- Galaxy Ring was launched at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event
- Aimed at people who like to track their health and fitness
- Ring monitors a range of health and fitness metrics, including sleep and heart rate

Samsung has unveiled its latest entry in the wearable technology race, which is designed to help people to track their health and fitness.
Latest entrant
The Galaxy Ring was launched at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event as the latest entrant into its ecosystem of devices.
Samsung say that the Galaxy Ring is made from lightweight titanium and designed to be so comfortable that the wearer forgets it is there. It is water resistant and has a battery that can last for up to a week between charges.
It has three sensors that monitor the wearer’s health at all times. Using Galaxy AI, the data provided by the sensors is analysed to produce personalised health and sleep tips to help the user improve their health and wellbeing. It also has features such as Heart Rate Alert, which provides an instant notification if the user’s heart rate becomes unusually hight or low in real-time via the Samsung Health app. Another feature, Sleep Score, monitors sleep metrics and things like snoring.
Take control of health
Smart rings have been around for a while – often used by sports teams – but this is the first time a manufacturer has tried to bring them to the mass market.
TM Roh, president and head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, said they enable users to “take control of your health and wellness with preventative healthcare solutions. The intelligence, guidance and insights that are offered with Galaxy Ring… will help users turn data into meaningful insights and create a whole new era of expanded intelligent health experiences.”
The Galaxy Ring works with Samsung’s range of Galaxy smartphones with operating systems of Android 11 or above.
