- Fans were left disappointed this week, after buying tickets to a Bridgerton-themed ball
- Based on the Netflix series of the same name, they were promised an evening of “sophistication, grace, and historical charm” – but received anything but.
- Instead of ballroom dancing lessons, the entertainment included an exotic dancer – and the food was raw

Earlier this year, customers were left distraught – and the Internet subsequently went into meltdown – over the hilarious and disastrous Glasgow Willy Wonka Experience.
And now, the US has followed suit – by providing social media with details of a similar immersive experience that has gone horribly wrong.
Based on the hit Netflix series Bridgerton, ticket holders for the Detroit Bridgerton-Themed Ball were promised an evening of “sophistication, grace, and historical charm”.
According to the event details, the night would include a costume contest which would award the best-dressed attendee a $2,000 cash prize, classical music, a theatrical show and the naming of a Diamond of the Season, as happens in the series.
Horse and carriage rides, and ballroom dance lessons were also promised.
The reality, however, was anything but magical.
After pushing the event back by a month, attendees, who shelled out hundreds of dollars for their tickets, got dressed up in their best Bridgerton-inspired outfits – only to realize that their Regency-era entertainment had been replaced by a singular exotic dancer, who performed on a pole at the center of the dance floor. The classical music was also a let-down, featuring just one lone violin player.
According to the attendees, the lavish dinner reportedly “ran out after an hour” – and judging by videos from the event, it wasn’t worth tasting anyway… especially after other partygoers said “some was raw”.
‘How humiliating!’
Of course, it didn’t take long for news of the evening to go viral on social media – with many taking to TikTok to voice their opinions.
“This feels like an SNL skit. Everyone looked amazing,” wrote one commenter, while another added, “I feel bad for everyone and hope they get a refund but can we talk about everyone’s attire everyone ate! That night.”
Unsurprisingly, news of the dancer attracted a lot of attention.
“I was not expecting the exotic dancer. I’m folded,” said someone, as another continued, “I feel so bad for the dancer omg how humiliating. Hired 3 hours before the event started. Wow.”
Another person added, “So you’re telling me that the dancer is an acrobat that offered to do aerial dancing and they wanted pole dancing instead!!! Plus they hired her 3 hours before and picked her outfit!!!”
Others were thankful for their lucky escape.
“I was thinking about buying this too when I saw it. The website looked so legit, even though the ticket prices were extremely expensive,” one revealed. Another said, “That’s crazy because I wanted to go but the ticket prices blew me away plus having to buy and put together an outfit. I would have lost my mind if I had gone.”
The organizer of the event, Uncle N Me LLC, said in a statement to 7 News Detroit that it understands “that not everyone had the experience they hoped for at our most recent event” and is “working diligently to address all concerns.”
The event was in no way affiliated with Netflix or anyone associated with the show.
