- Chappell Roan hit headlines this week after calling out ‘weird stalker’ behavior from fans
- In two TikTok videos, the singer said she doesn’t ‘care for the crazy type of behavior that comes along with the career field I’ve chosen’
- And Roan isn’t alone – here are six other celebrities who have addressed the actions of their fandoms

She’s the pop star who has provided the soundtrack to summer 2024.
But as her fame has reached dizzying heights almost overnight, Chappell Roan has had to call out fans for their “weird” behavior.
The Good Luck, Babe! Singer, 26, took to TikTok this week to plead with fans who are “stalking” her and her loved ones.
“I don’t care that this crazy type of behavior comes along with the job, the career field I’ve chosen,” Roan told her followers. “That does not make it OK, that doesn’t make it normal. That doesn’t mean that I want it, that doesn’t mean that I like it.”
She continued, “I don’t want whatever the f*** you think you’re supposed to be entitled to whenever you see a celebrity. I don’t give a f*** if you think it’s selfish of me to say no for a photo or for your time or for a hug. That’s not normal. That’s weird.”
While Roan’s comments are completely justifiable, she’s sadly not the only celebrity who has had to address fans for getting a little too close for comfort.
Here are six other stars who have spoken out about the dangerous behavior of their followers…
Keke Palmer
In 2022, actor and singer Keke Palmer took to Twitter/X after being filmed against her will in a bar.
“No means no, even when it doesn’t pertain to sex,” she wrote. “I was at the bar the other day and this girl asked me three times for a picture and I told her three times nicely that I did not want to take one with her. She still proceeded to film me against my will.”
Palmer added, “If I went off on her I would’ve been wrong, so I just nervously laughed while my privacy was invaded upon.”
Justin Bieber
After almost two decades in the spotlight, Justin Bieber has had enough – and now refuses to take pictures with fans because “it has gotten to the point that people won’t even say hi to [him] or recognize [him] as a human”.
“I want to be able to keep my sanity. I realize people will be disappointed, but I don’t owe anybody a picture,” the singer wrote in an Instagram post.
After a fan criticized his decision, Bieber added, “If you think setting boundaries is being a douche, I’m the biggest d***** around, but I think it’s smart and will be the only way I last.
“I’m going to keep making decisions I feel are fit for my growth, and no human being will make me feel bad for it.”
Emilia Clarke
Another celebrity who has decided not to take photo requests is Emilia Clarke.
The Game of Thrones actor came to the conclusion after a fan asked for a selfie… while she was having a panic attack in an airport.
“I was on the phone to my mum saying, ‘I feel like I can’t breathe, I don’t know what’s going on’,” Clarke recalled. “I’m crying and crying, and this guy’s like, ‘Can I get a selfie?’ I was like, ‘I can’t breathe, I’m really sorry.’”
Adding that she prefers to sign something instead, Clarke added, “When you do that, you have to have an interaction with that person, as opposed to someone just going, ‘Give us a selfie, goodbye.’
“Then you have a chat and you’re actually having a truthful human-to-human thing, as opposed to it being this other thing that probably isn’t nice for them and isn’t that nice for you.”
Pete Davidson
Pete Davidson is another star who has had to address fans after being trolled online.
“I’ve kept my mouth shut. Never mentioned any names, never said a word about anyone or anything,” wrote the actor and comedian. “I’m trying to understand how when something happens to a guy the whole entire world just trashes him without any facts or frame of reference.”
In fact, Davidson’s candid statement prompted Ariana Grande – who had recently called off her engagement to him – to also say her piece.
“I know you already know this but I feel I need to remind my fans to please be gentler with others,” she wrote. “I really don’t endorse anything but forgiveness and positivity.
“I care deeply about Pete and his health. I’m asking you to please be gentler with others, even on the internet. I’ve learned through my own mistakes not to be reactive on socials so I do understand, but you truly don’t know what anybody is experiencing ever. Regardless of what they choose to display on social media or how they may appear in public. I can promise you that.
“So please let whatever point you’re trying to make go. I will always have irrevocable love for him and if you’ve gotten any other impression from my recent work, you might have missed the point.”
Cardi B
Similarly, Cardi B called out fans who bashed her then-estranged husband Offset for surprising her onstage to ask her to take him back.
In an Instagram video, she said, “Violating my [baby’s] father is not gonna make me feel better ’cause at the end of the day, that’s still family.”
She continued, “I just don’t like that bashing online thing. … I wouldn’t want my baby father to have that feeling.
“I know how painful it is when you have millions of people bashing you every single day. I don’t like that, and it doesn’t make me feel any better.”
Cole Sprouse
Former child star Cole Sprouse has also had to have words with some fans.
The former Disney star fumed at followers who “feel entitled to [his] privacy precisely because [he] never [indulges] them.”
On his Instagram story, he said, “Attacking my friends, baseless accusations, leaking my address, and sending death threats are all qualities of insanity and fanaticism.”
He continued, “Choose humanity, stop being [clown emoji].”
