Hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg’s love of weed is legendary, but now he looking to monetise his passion with the opening of a licenced cannabis dispensary.

Regulated products

The shop is located near to Los Angeles Airport and is named ‘S.W.E.D’ – a reference to Snoop’s catchphrase ‘smoke weed every day’.

S.W.E.D. sells a range of regulated cannabis products, but visitors to the shop can experience much more. For instance, there is an area dedicated to Snoop’s breakthrough album Doggystyle from 1993, a hand-written graffiti wall and a DJ booth, according to pop culture news site The Blast.

2Pac tribute

In addition, Snoop has launched a limited-edition range of products under the Death Row Cannabis name, which commemorate fellow rapper 2Pac, who was murdered in 1996.

Death Row Cannabis was launched last year and initially sold products at Cookies, a cannabis brand run by another rapper, Berner.

The new line features 2Pac, who, according to Snoop, was the person who gave him his first blunt, and was then a life-long friend. “We’ll always have his music, but this is another way I can bring what was meaningful to 2Pac to his fans,” said Snoop in a statement from Death Row Cannabis.

Snoop’s love of weed is well known, although he caused consternation last year when he revealed he had gone smoke-free – although it turned out to be a publicity stunt for a brand of smokeless fire pits and he was still indulging in his habit.
