- Rapper faced off against Olympic champions in 200 meters race
- Snoop was pleased with his performance
- Snoop then took up the microphone to give his unique take on races

Rapper Snoop Dogg is renowned for many things, but his running ability isn’t one of them. So there was surprise when he took to the track for a 200 meters race at the US Summer Olympics Trials.
But we won’t be seeing Snoop lining up in lycra in Paris in August for the US team, sadly – his race was just an exhibition.
Good time for a 52-year-old
Snoop lined up against past Olympic champions sprinter Ato Boldon – who ran for Trinidad and Tobago – and the USA’s 400-meter specialist Wallace Spearman. The rapper, who wore a t-shirt bearing the image of late NBA star Kobe Bryant, came – unsurprisingly – third, clocking a time of 34.44 seconds, which, as he noted after the race was “for a 52-year-old? Ain’t bad”. He then posed by the timing board in the style of legends such as Michael Johnson or Usain Bolt.

Unique perspective
But that wasn’t the end of Snoop’s day. Once he had got his breath back, he made his way up to the NBC commentary box to add his unique take on the proceedings on track. While watching the 3,000 meters steeplechase unfold, he was taken by how runners sometimes jump off the top of the hurdle, rather than clearing it. “You can do that?” he opined. “That was a cold trick right there. I like that one. Went off the tippy-top.”
And the good news for sports fans is that Snoop will be covering the games for NBC and Peacock when they start on July 26. Although this isn’t his first rodeo – he was a correspondent with Kevin Hart during the previous Olympics in Tokyo.
