Rachel Zegler is swapping out playing a Disney princess for the First Lady of Argentina.

The Snow White star is set to make her London theatre debut in the new West End production of Evita.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical will run from June to September 2025 at The London Palladium.

Lloyd Webber described Zegler a “phenomenal talent” who will “blow the roof off the” theatre, according to Deadline.

Many are looking forward to the live-action version of the Disney animated classic. The House of Mouse has proved their formula of remaking beloved titles into real-life versions is very profitable. Recent offerings like The Little Mermaid, The Lion King and Beauty And The Beauty have been box office hits.

Has Rachel Zegler done any other musicals?

Zegler got her big break in the 2021 Steven Spielberg remake of West Side Story. She snagged an Oscar nomination for playing Maria, the love interest of Ansel Elgort’s Tony.

Natalie Wood played the part in the 1961 original opposite Richard Beymer. Using a score by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, the show is based on William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

Along with Elgort, Zegler’s co-stars included Ariana DeBose, Mike Faist and Rita Moreno, who appeared as Anita in the 60s version. DeBose repeated Moreno’s luck and won the Best Supporting Actress award at the Academy Awards in 2022.

In 2024, Zegler took her love of the play again in Broadway’s recent production as the titular Juliet. Her Romeo was none other than Heartstopper’s Kit Connor. It concluded its run on the Great White Way in February 2025.
