- Movie based on the iconic Spider-Man villain is just out
- Aaron Taylor-Johnson is playing Kraven
- Social media users have given their verdicts – and they are mixed

Kraven the Hunter is the latest comic book big screen adaptation from Sony, and social media has had its say on the movie – and reviews are mixed.
The movie is the based on the Marvel comic book character, who is most famous for coming up against Spider-Man. In the movie, Kraven (played by Aaron Taylor Johnson) has a complex relationship with his father, which sets him on a path of vengeance, and inspires him to become the greatest – and most feared – hunter the world has ever seen. Cue lots of large and bloody fight scenes.
After the failure of Madame Web earlier this year, which bombed at the box office and was roundly panned by critics and movie goers, Sony is hoping Kraven the Hunter will fare more like Venom: The Last Dance, which had better reviews and performance at the box office.
However, the early reviews on social media might leave executives worried.
For instance, Cris Parker was disappointed with the movie. While he praised the action sequences when Johnson is “causing bloody chaos” everything else was a drag.
http://.#KravenTheHunter is fun when Johnson is in action causing bloody chaos but everything else is a drag. Great cast held back by clunky dull dialogue. Another instance of a villain turned hero. A story that lacks any intrigue. Rhino & Chameleon wasted. Overall a disappointment. pic.twitter.com/YIlyJnsjQH

Another review was also mostly uncomplimentary about the film – apart from the action sequences and star Taylor Johnson.
So #KravenTheHunter

A big ol bucket of NAH. While I liked the action, it cutaway from it so quick one didn’t get to enjoy it! AWFUL acting, terrible script and a waste of Aaron Taylor Johnson, who I actually enjoyed in the role! Wayyyy too quick, not a great story… farewell. pic.twitter.com/is3HBwTLXh
A third was also disappointed.
#KravenTheHunter is exactly what you think it is. Clunky dialogue, laughable visual effects, and yes, some brutal kills. Some of the action works thanks to the R rating, but it’s drowned out by horrendous performances.

It’s a whole lot of nothing – forgettable on every level. pic.twitter.com/OoxQtNQfL3
This is the sixth entry in the Sony Spider-Man Universe, which is notable for not actually featuring the webslinger, due to issues with licensing (its complicated) with Marvel.
You can make your own mind up about Kraven the Hunter when it arrives on general release on December 12.
