A radio station in Philadelphia has taken the controversial decision to ban Taylor Swift’s music from the airwaves. But all is not as it seems.
Philadelphia’s Q102, which is based in southeast Philadelphia, took the decision, not because of any objection to the music icon’s music or lyrics, but because of her alleged support for the Kansas City Chiefs, ahead of their match against Philadelphia Eagles.
For some time, Swift had been rumoured to be in a relationship with the Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce, and she has been seen at their games.
Given Swift’s previous allegiance to the Eagles, then the match takes on extra significance, although the Eagles players have been quick to say they are focused on the match, rather than the world’s biggest pop star’s allegiances.
Nevertheless, Q102 on-air presenter and program director, Buster Satterfield, took the decision to de-list Swift from the playlists ahead of the game, to help the Eagles players to focus on their upcoming crunch match.
But the ban is just temporary – the station stated that they love Taylor Swift, so she should be back on the playlist as usual the morning after the match, so Swifties in Philly shouldn’t worry about not hearing their favourite tunes for too long.
