Fans have been waiting for new music from her for two years.

But now the wait is almost over – as Taylor Swift is set to release her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, this Friday, April 19.

While, of course, no self-respecting Swiftie would forget such an important date in their calendars, Swift, 34, couldn’t resist reminding her fans that the big day was almost here.

Sharing a black-and-white video to music streaming platform Spotify, Swift said, “Hey Spotify, happy release week of The Tortured Poets Department album. Make sure to pre save the album and keep checking back for more updates from the department.”

In the clip, the All Too Well singer can be seen behind her famous typewriter, which most recently sent her followers into a frenzy last week during the solar eclipse.

As millions all over the country were treated to the phenomenon, Swifties watched how the typewriter teased lyrics from their leader’s album, and read, “Crowd goes wild at her fingertips/Half moonshine, Full eclipse.”

With ‘more updates from the department’ dropping soon, eagle-eyed followers are desperately searching for more hints from Swift.

“I’m trying to be a detective to see if there’s any eggs here but it [seems] straightforward,” someone commented on Twitter/X, while another added, “She really is a marketing genius ,she knows that less is more she just gives us these little tidbits and it drives us crazy.”

Announced at the 2024 Grammys in February, it turns out that Swift has actually been dropping hints about the new record for a while.

A TIME headline last December labeled her ‘The Poet Laureate of Pop Culture’, while she also posted a photo with friend Jack Antonoff, where the pair held up exactly 11 fingers – a nod to her 11th album.

While the lengthy title confused fans at first, they quickly pieced together that – like most of Swift’s albums – it’s a not-so-subtle nod to her ex partner, Joe Alwyn.

The former couple enjoyed a seven-year relationship before splitting early last year. But back in May 2022, the British actor revealed that he is part of a Whatsapp group chat with fellow stars Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott, named ‘Tortured Man Club’, thanks to their roles in the Sally Rooney adaptations Conversations with Friends (Alwyn) and Normal People (Mescal), and Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s comedy-drama, Fleabag (Scott).
