The Apple Vision Pro was released last week in the US to much fanfare, with customers lining up outside the Apple Store in New York to get their hands on one.
The headset, which can be yours for $3499, has been called Apple’s biggest release since the Apple Watch in 2015.
While it is undeniably cool, experts are now giving their opinion on what practical applications the device could have – and there are many, it seems. One tech expert on X, Aadit Sheth (@aaditsh), produced a thread detailing 21 uses the “revolutionary technology” could have.
For instance, you can remotely tour homes for sale – getting viewings for homes can be tricky, but the Apple Vision Pro means you can do it at any time.
Another practical use is that you can see captions or translations in real-time, which could be useful when in a foreign country.
For those that like their home to be extra clean, you can used it to ensure that you never miss a spot when vacuuming.
Meanwhile, for Formula 1 fans, the headset can give you a truly immersive experience. It can show a version of the track on your coffee table, so you can track all the cars in real time and not just what the TV director is showing you.
It can also help with the perennial problem of when two (or more) of your favourite sports are on at the same time – you can watch them all on different screens (without the need for a laptop).
It can also take gaming to the next level, as you can see the games in front of you and touch to play rather than using a controller. You can have similar immersive experiences for music, streaming services and kids entertainment.
For businesses, it can be used to model products or prototypes in 3D – including exploding them out to see the components – potentially bringing huge savings in time and money during the development process.
These are just some of the uses Sheth outlines on X, and there will no doubt be many more uses for the headset that will become clear in the coming days and weeks.
