The stakes were bound to be high, with the Kansas City Chiefs aiming to win their third Super Bowl in a row. Kendrick Lamar was booked for the halftime show following his very eventful 2024, while Donald Trump became the first sitting president to attend the big game.
In the end, the Chiefs couldn’t quite snatch the three peat thanks to the Philadelphia Eagles getting ahead and making up for their loss to the Chiefs in 2023. Away from the game itself, however, there was plenty that got people talking.
Kendrick Lamar takes aim at Drake during the halftime show

Lamar’s halftime show might have just been his crowning achievement – and a victory lap for the success he’s had following his exchange of diss tracks with Drake last year.

It was also a set that made history, since he is the first solo rapper to have played the coveted halftime show.
Lamar kicked off his set with Bodies before later playing Squabble Up, HUMBLE., DNA. and Euphoria. He suggested he was about to go into Not Like Us but then quipped “I want to play their favourite song but you know they like to sue.” However, he did perform it eventually but omitted the Drake line, grinning to the camera in its place. He then finished off with TV Off.
SZA joined him at one point for Luther and All The Stars, while Samuel L Jackson appeared intermittently as Uncle Sam. Serena Williams – who was once linked to Drake – also popped up crip walking.
Taylor Swift getting booed

Taylor Swift appears regularly at Chiefs games to support boyfriend Travis Kelce but some fans have built up a gripe about it.
Her introduction at the game was met with a chorus of boos. Then again, it didn’t help that there were more Eagles fans than Chiefs fans in the stadium that night. The Philadelphian attendees were reported to make up 80% of the crowd, according to The Athletic.
Swift, accompanied by Ice Spice as she was at last year’s Super Bowl, side-eyed the big screen and laughed it off.
An unexpected Abbot Elementary/Always Sunny crossover

It’s not been long since the two Philadelphia based sitcoms came together for a crossover episode of Abbott recently, but they’ve already reunited.
Rob McElhenney took to Instagram over Super Bowl weekend in New Orleans to share a picutre of himself with his wife and Always Sunny co-star Kaitlin Olson alongside Abbott stars Quinta Brunson and Tyler James Williams.
