A week removed from the harrowing second episode of season two of The Last Of Us and fans are trying to come to terms with living in a post-Pedro Pascal world.

It’s not been easy.

First of all, there was the new, Joel-free opening credits. Now, following Joel’s murder at the hands (and shotgun and golfclub) of Abby, viewers are having to navigate the fungally infected wastelands without Pascal’s tormented, reluctant hero.

The Path. A New Beginning

As the opening credits rolled, Pascal’s name was now absent. But perhaps most devastating of all, the two silhouettes, representing Joel and Ellie, are now just one. The smaller silhouette, belonging to Ellie, is now all alone to face the infected, among other dangers, solo.

But then came the episode, entitled The Path, and even with a week to recover from Joel’s murder, it was a difficult Pascal-free watch. Yes, the coffee beans on the grave reduced us to a whimpering mess. You would have to be a monster to have any other reaction.

The Last of Us Leaves Fans Heartbroken Again

Of course, fans of The Last of Us on social media had a hard time handling it all…

We can only assume the remaining four episodes of season two are a bright and breezy affair with absolutely no dread, anxiety or heartbreak. Right….right?
