Multiple Emmy-winning comedy drama series The White Lotus has been renewed by HBO for a fourth season, weeks before season three goes to air.
The White Lotus was an instant hit when it first hit screen in 2021. Initially, the show satirised the lives of wealthy people on holiday, but its popularity has seen the show develop significantly since then.
In the first two seasons, groups of holidaymakers at the White Lotus resort were followed, who all have their own troubles of various kinds. In the show, the holidaymakers are seen at their privileged worst as they live to excess – and how it impacts hotel staff. In addition, both seasons have one character die in mysterious circumstances.
White Lotus season 3
Season 3 is set to drop in February, with the action for this series moved to Thailand. The first season was set in Hawaii, moving to Sicily for season 2.
Only one previous cast member is returning for this season – Natasha Rothwell will reprise her role of spa manager Belinda Lindsey, who appeared in the first season, which was set in Hawaii.
Joining the cast for season 3 are Parker Posie, Michelle Monaghan, Jason Isaacs, Leslie Bibb, Tayme Thapthimthong, Dom Hetrakul, Carrie Coons, Christian Friedel, Morgana O’Reilly, Lek Patravadi, Shalini Peiris, Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, Sam Nivola, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Charlotte Le Bon, Nicholas Duvernay and Arnas Fedaravičius.
Thus far, details of the plotlines for season 3 are thin on the ground – a trailer gave only vague hints – including whether there will be death this season or not. Find out all we know about season three of The White Lotus here.
HBO renews The White Lotus
HBO has renewed The White Lotus for a fourth season, with production for it set to happen in 2026, according to Variety, which broke the story. As yet, there is no confirmation about where season 4 will be set, nor whether any cast members – from any of the series – will be making a return.
Creator Mike White is continuing as showrunner for the fourth season. He has already pitched ideas for the season to HBO head honcho Casey Bloys, as the latter revealed last year.
In its first two seasons, The White Lotus won 15 Emmys, including outstanding limited series for its first season.
The White Lotus season 3 debuts on MAX on February 16.
