Then there’s the reappearance of Greg, the one-time hubby of Jennifer Coolidge’s stand-out series regular Tanya, played by Jon Gries.

Warning: The White Lotus spoilers lurk below…

The White Lotus fan theories

For those who may be unaware, Tanya met Greg during a trip to The White Lotus Hawaii in season 1 before travelling with him to Sicily in season 2.

Unfortunately, that trip didn’t exactly end well. After some shady friends emerge, Greg is linked to a sinister plot which ultimately leads to Tanya’s death.

The White Lotus season 3 continues its trend of telling a stand-alone story, complete with (mostly) new characters. However, in addition to the return of The White Lotus Hawaii masseuse Belinda, played by Natasha Rothwell, it turns out that Greg is also present at The White Lotus Thailand for White’s latest outing.

So what is he doing here? Well, despite starting with a mystery shooting at the resort, fans of the series already have some ideas about why Greg is back on the scene.

Why is Greg in The White Lotus season 3?

The White Lotus fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts on Greg’s return.

Despite the series opening with bullets fired from a mystery shooter, some fans think The White Lotus season 3 will be a karma moment for Greg.

“I’m curious if under the radar, karma is coming for Greg.

“He’s been on the run for a year, Belinda knows about his (dead) partner, and he’s partially responsible for all the dead gays,” said one user, referring to Tanya’s attackers at the end of season 2.

Karama was echoed in another hot take that assumes Tanya somehow survived her fall from a yacht in season 2.

“Greg has false Karma”

“The white lotus: the white lotus: regarding the theme of this season being spirituality, I believe that Greg has false Karma. Tanya did not die and Belinda is in this hotel trying to find out his whereabouts at Tanya’s behest. Greg is the third dead person.”

Meanwhile, other have predicted that Greg is already familiar with another new character, financier Timothy played by Jason Isaacs.

“White lotus predictions: the guy face down in the water is the dad, whos shot by Gaitok because the dad gets in cahoots with rick AND greg (because they already know each other),” proposed another user, linking Tayme Thapthimthong’s security guard Gaitok and Walton Goggins’ Rick into the mix.

“Esp because he overheard that phone call i think he misinterpreted as being connected to robbery.”

Considering we’re only two episodes in, it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer to discover Greg’s true motives.
