- Thought that film will be last solo outing for MCU favorite
- Writer and director being sought for project
- Last film, Thor: Love and Thunder wasn’t well received at the box office

There are continued rumours that there will be a Thor 5, with production apparently set to start before the end of next year.
Industry insider Daniel Richtman has claimed that production is slated for ‘fall 2025’ but that there is currently no writer or director attached to the project.
Who might direct us open to speculation, but Taika Waititi, who directed Love and Thunder, has already ruled himself out of contention.
There have been rumours about a fifth solo outing for the Asgardian hero pretty much ever since Thor: Love and Thunder hit theatre screens to mixed reviews.
Actor Chris Hemsworth has indicated he would like to return as Thor, having played him since 2011’s Thor. Since then, he has played him in three other Thor solo movies – Thor: The Dark World (2013), Thor:Ragnarok (2017) and 2022’s Love and Thunder. He has also cropped up in numerous other MCU movies over the years, most notably the Avengers series.
In an interview last year he said he felt that the series probably warrants a proper finale to tie up the character’s arc. Although he added then that was just his take – not anything official.
As to when a new film might be released, it seems like we will have to wait a while. The MCU release calendar for 2025 and 2026 is looking busy – and Disney’s chief recently said the company was reigning back on the number of MCU films it releases per year – so it could be 2027 by the time it hits our screens.
