Fans are already eagerly anticipating season 2 of Wednesday and will be even more excited to know that Tim Burton will direct some of the episodes.

Legendary director returning

The first season of Wednesday was a huge hit on Netflix and production is well underway for season 2 – although no broadcast date has been announced yet. Now, it has been confirmed that legendary director Burton will return to direct four episodes of the season.

Burton, who is best known for his film work, did direct four of the eight episodes in the first season. Although his influence can be seen throughout the run in the creepy tone of the show.

Al Gough, who along with Miles Millar created the show, confirmed the news to Collider’s Steve Weintraub. “He’s doing four, he’s doing half the season like he did in season 1,” Gough said.

Gough added that he enjoys the amount of care Burton puts into his work. He says it isn’t from a cynical desire to earn more money, but because he loves the material.

But while we know how many episodes Burton will direct; we don’t know yet which ones he will be in the chair for. That, we will have to wait and see.

Working together

Of course, Burton has been working with Ortega recently on the smash hit sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The movie, which stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Ortega, took $145.4 million across the world on its opening weekend, making it one of the biggest openings of the year so far.

Hopefully it wont be too long before we see Burton and Ortega’s work on our screens again.
