- Brady provided color commentary on Fox’s coverage of the Dallas Cowboys victory over the Cleveland Browns
- Brady signed a $375m 10-year contract with Fox in 2022
- The seven-time Super Bowl champion’s debut was not well received by NFL fans
Even after spending a year preparing for his debut, watching tape and running practice plays, Tom Brady’s rookie year as an NFL analyst got off to a rocky start on Fox, last night as he providing color commentary for the Dallas Cowboys’ victory over the Cleveland Browns.
Brady, who signed an eye watering $375m, 10-year deal with Fox back in 2022, spent 2023 studying other analysts, privately calling games and consulting elders of the analyst world so he could be gameday ready when the 2024 season commenced this past weekend.
Yet the seven-time Super Bowl champion still appeared woefully underprepared.
Of course, replacing the beloved Greg Olsen, who was bumped down to number two analyst on Fox with Brady’s arrival, was never going to make for an easy entry into a new career path for the New England Patriots legend, but even so, fans on social media were ruthless in response to Brady’s performance in the booth.
In hindsight, being left hanging by Mike Pereira at the beginning of the broadcast was probably an omen of what was to come.
And it didn’t get any better from there…
Of course, calling a game on live national television and practicing them privately are two completely different things, plus, with a decade-long deal to his name, Brady has plenty of time to cement another GOAT level legacy off the field.
