New additions to the Avengers include Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm. A pregnant Sue Storm, on top of that! Loki is Hiddleston’s biggest acting role to date, and he has played the role since Loki was introduced in Thor in 2011. In summary, Loki is one of the biggest villains in the MCU, which is why fans were hyped to see that he would return in Doomsday.

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Hiddleston expressed his enthusiasm for returning to the MCU.

“I’m very, very excited,” Hiddleston gushed. “It’s really remarkable that I can talk about it because mostly I’m in a position of knowing and not being able to say anything … it’s been an extraordinary chapter of my life playing Loki, and it’s not over yet.”

In the MCU, so far, Loki has appeared in six films. He starts as a huge antagonist and slowly fades a little into the background, but never out of the Marvel universe. Hiddleston has been the face of two seasons of the Loki TV show that follow the events of Avengers: Endgame.

At present, Loki’s role in Doomsday is unknown. With 27 other cast members from the MCU, it seems likely some will come together to fight Dr Doom. Robert Downey Jr. was teased to be the main villain in Avengers: Doomsday at San Diego Comic Con in the summer of 2024. Assuming there are so many characters in Doomsday, they are likely fighting against Dr Doom.

Speculation suggests that Doom may also appear in Fantastic Four: First Steps, which will set up the events of Doomsday, releasing in 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars, releasing the following year.

While Hiddleston did not say much, fans are excited for his cinematic return.
