Spider-Man star Tom Holland has said there may be a fourth movie in the series – but only if the story is right.

Speaking to Deadline while appearing at the Sands International Film Festival in St Andrews, Scotland, Holland gave fans an update on the immensely popular part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

“I’ll always want to do Spider-Man films,” he told Deadline. “I owe my life and career to Spider-Man. I’ll always want to do more.”

But it is by no means certain that there will be another film in the series. Holland said that any new film will not retread old themes, adding: “We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect. The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing.”

The third part of the trilogy, Spider-Man: No Way Home, became one of the biggest grossing films of all time after its release in December 2021. It took $260 million at the box office on its first weekend in the US and went on to take $1,922 billion globally – making it the seventh biggest grossing film ever.

So it seems that, while the studio and its star are keen for the web-slinger to return once more, we may have to wait some time for it to hit screens.

But in the meantime, Holland is keeping busy with other projects. He hinted that there are movie projects he is involved in, and he will star in Romeo and Juliet in London’s West End this summer.
