- Amazon has confirmed a Tomb Raider series for Prime Video
- Phoebe Waller-Bridge will write the series and executive produce
- First TV series outing for the hugely successful video game heroine

A live-action Tomb Raider series is coming to Prime Video, Amazon has confirmed. British star Phoebe Waller-Bridge is on board as writer and executive producer.
The series will be based on the hugely successful video game series, which focus on Lara Croft, who goes through perilous situations on her archaeological adventures.
Incredibly privileged
Waller-Bridge, who shot to international fame in Fleabag, and has since worked as a writer on films such as No Time to Die, has expressed her delight at being involved in the project. “If I could tell my teenage self this was happening I think she would explode,” she said.
“Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all.”
In other news, “Fast and Furious” could become a TV series.
No word on star
The series is part of a deal between Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM studios to develop Tomb Raider series and films. Additionally, Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games are developing a new Tomb Raider multiplatform game.
However, there is no word on who will take on the role of Croft. Nor was it mentioned on when the series might hit our screens – although Amazon said it would premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories – so it looks like we might have to wait a while yet.
Furthermore, Thandiwe Newton’s joining of the “Series Two” cast of “Wednesday” promises to add depth to the upcoming show.
