Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, suffered a prison stabbing on 12 May, prompting officials to rush him to the hospital. In 2023, authorities sentenced the 32-year-old rapper to 10 years in prison for shooting fellow rapper and friend Megan Thee Stallion, 30, at a party in California.
Stallion’s real name is Megan Pete.
Back in July 2020, Lanez shot the 30-year-old while leaving a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s mansion. The two argued about their previous romantic relationship when the incident happened. However, Lanez maintained his innocence in the shooting, despite the rapper testifying at his trial.
Following the shooting, bullet fragments ended up in her feet, which she had surgery for, she testified at the trial.

But what happened to Lanez in prison, and how did his team respond?
What happened to Tory Lanez in prison?
The 32-year-old was attacked by another inmate and stabbed 14 times at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi.
On Instagram, Lanez’s team detailed his injuries. Warning: they are extensive.
The post begins, “Tory was stabbed 14 times – including 7 wounds to his back, 4 to his torso, 2 to the back of his head, and 1 to the left side of his face”.
It continues, “Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus. He is now breathing on his own. Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through.”
The post concludes with a message from Lanez thanking the public for their support.
So…what happened?
The attack happened around 7:20 am, according to someone who works at the correctional facility. “Staff immediately responded, activated 911, and began medical aid. Peterson was subsequently transported to an outside medical facility for further treatment,” a spokesperson said.
However, officials have released few details about who attacked Lanez and why.
His attorney told ABC News she could not get much information regarding the details of the attack.
The correctional facility has launched an investigation into the attack. Additionally, the Investigative Services Unit and the Kern County District Attorney’s Office have joined the probe.
Currently, there is no news of who attacked Lanez.
