The family of Tupac Shakur has hired a high-profile attorney to investigate if there are any links between Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and the murder of Tupac.

High profile

Alex Spiro has been hired by Tupac’s family to make the investigations. He is one of the most prominent lawyers in Hollywood, who has previously represented Jay-Z and Elon Musk, among many others, in a range of high-profile cases.

Tupac’s family has also recently hired investigators to delve into any role that Diddy may have had in the notorious crime – or not.

Notorious crime

In one of the music industry’s most notorious crimes, Tupac was murdered in a drive-by shooting in Last Vegas in September 1996. The murder came at the height of the East Coast-West Coast hip-hop feud. Six months after Tupac’s murder, Notorious BIG – who had beefed with Tupac – was also killed in a drive-by shooting. Diddy was a close friend of Notorious BIG, aka Biggie Smalls, and had signed him to his Bad Boy Entertainment label.

Despite the huge publicity around the murder of 25-year-old Tupac, the crime has remained unsolved. But last year, Duane Keith Davis – also known as Keffe D – a member of the Compton Crips gang, was charged with Tupac’s murder.

Davis will go on trial in March 2025. Since his arrest, Davis has alleged that Combs offered $1 million for a hit on Tupac.

Diddy has previously denied any involvement in Tupac’s murder.

In September, Diddy was charged with a range of offences including racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Netflix has also recently announced that it will produce a docuseries surrounding the charges of sex trafficking and racketeering that are currently being brought against Diddy. And the series will be produced with 50 Cent.
