Walton Goggins’ opening monologue on Saturday had a wholesome Mother’s Day touch to it.

During his monologue, the actor touched on his upbringing n Atlanta, Georgia. He was raised by his mother, her three sisters and his grandmother.

“My mama is the most important person in my life,” Goggins said to a round of applause. “Growing up, when she couldn’t afford a babysitter, she would take me to honky tonks. My mother taught me how to clog, how to two step and luckily enough for me, my mama’s here tonight.”

The camera then panned to Goggins’ mother in the audience and he invited her to dance. It began slowly at first, but then he told the band to speed up and they began tap dancing.

“I’ve had the same hairline since I was seven”

Earlier in his monologue, Goggins joked about his newfound sex symbol status since his role on The White Lotus.

“No spoilers, but I die. My character in ‘White Lotus’ is pretty brooding, which the internet seemed to find attractive,” Goggins said. “Some of my friends have even asked me, ‘Walton, what’s it like to become a sex symbol at 53 years old?’ And you know what, if I’m being honest, it feels fantastic.”

He then poked fun at headlines that made him out to be an unlikely sex symbol because of his hairline.

“I’ve had the same hairline since I was seven. It’s not receding, it’s holding its ground,” he insisted.

What else did Goggins do on SNL this week?

Goggins was part of a musical sketch in which he played a man with tiny feet. Jane Wickline reunited him with a tiny shoe that he had lost at a zoo, which he then attempted to make romantic to no avail.

“No, you thought you were looking for a baby, but you were looking for me. Ding dong, bing bong. Here I am! She finally found her man, and they made love on the carousel…” Goggins sang.

The sketch also saw him reunite with The White Lotus castmate Sam Rockwell, who played Goggins’ character Rick’s friend Frank.

Rockwell appears near the end as a balloon artist. “I think we’ve all learned a very valuable lesson today today. Cinderella rules aren’t real-life rules,” he quips.
