- Shakira kicked off her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour on February 12
- The internet thought Shakira could have been inspired by Beyoncé’s Renaissance era on tour
- Beyoncé released the Renaissance album in July 2022

The Beyhive is coming again and this time, it’s for Shakira. People were comparing Shakira’s tour with elements from Beyoncé’s Renaissance era which began in 2022 and lasted until October 2023 when her tour ended. She released the album of the same name in July 2022. This isn’t the first time people are comparing another artist to Beyoncé, Taylor Swift has been compared to the singer multiple times. The comparisons between Beyoncé and Shakira are insane, because the ladies made a song together in 2006, Beautiful Liar, which was released on Beyoncé’s 2006 studio album B’Day.

Shakira embarked on her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, which kicked off in Brazil. The concert was sold out and was the singer’s first big tour in seven years since her El Dorado World Tour. The Columbian singer rose to fame in the nineties and had her international breakthrough in 2001 with her album Laundry Service. The album produced hits like Whenever, Wherever and Suerte. In recent years, Shakira was in the press for dissing her ex-boyfriend Gerad Piqué. Rumors circulated that he cheated on her in 2020. The singer addressed him directly in Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53. Rumors also swirled about the singer dating Emily in Paris star Lucien Laviscount in 2024.
But now she is busy on her world tour, but why are people comparing her and Beyoncé?
What is the comparison?
People are comparing elements of the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour to the Renaissance Tour.
It all started when the pop culture update account Pop Base posted about the tour’s opening night on X. The post featured a picture of Shakira performing, as well as a video of the packed stadium.

Behind Shakira in the photo, a huge projected image of a wolf can be seen. The 48-year-old has used the imagery of the animal in her 2009 studio album She Wolf. She has a song of the same name attached to the album talking about letting your inner wolf out. She dances in a cage in the music video, a symbol of wanting to be free. This goes hand-in-hand with the song’s lyrics “Open up and set it free”.
You can see the music video below.
The Beyhive wasn’t happy
One of the most popular replies to Pop Base’s post claimed that the She Wolf singer “wanted a Renaissance moment”. The fan attached a photo of a shiny horse prop that Beyoncé used during her Renaissance tour.

Horses were featured heavily in the imagery for the Renaissance album. The cover features the singer riding on top of a glowing horse. The cover is kind of risky, but you can find it. The album also hinted at Beyoncé heading into country music as it had elements of country. 2024’s Cowboy Carter is a country album, which won Album Of the Year at the 2025 Grammys.
On tour, the horse imagery remains.
Unhappy fans
Another fan clowned the Waka Waka singer, and said: “It’s giving Renaissance Tour from shein”. Other users on X posted examples of where they believed Shakira was ‘copying’ their favorite singer.
One member of the Beyhive wrote: Shakira went to the RENAISSANCE world tour and took notes. THE INSPIRATION BEYONCÉ IS.”

The fan posted a banner with the titles of each tour in very similar wording. And on if Shakira was on the tour, well there is evidence. She attended one of the shows in Miami, Florida, apparently. Many fans thought this could be suspicious, and led to inspo for the tour. A bit of a conspiracy, isn’t it?
The same fan posted another side-by-side of the singers wearing similar shiny bodysuits.

Pop Base even posted about Shakira attending Bey’s tour in 2023. You can see the post below. The second photo is allegedly of Shakira at the show.

Previous similarities to Shakira

However, fans of Shakira pointed out that there were instances where Beyoncé’s imagery looked similar to hers.
One user posted a side-by-side of imagery from the singers’ different tours. They wrote: “Beyonce is a Shakira FAN!”

The side-by-side features the snake imagery from Shakira’s 2002 tour Tour of The Moongoose, which featured snakes. Yes, she has been prominent with animal imagery since her early career.
Another user defended Shakira, “Copyoncé stans in the replies ijbol,” they wrote. ‘Ijbol’ is apparently new Stan Twitter talk for “I just burst out laughing”.
So…did Shakira copy her?
The short answer depends on who you ask. The two have had similar imagery on their tours, as pointed out in the pictures. However, the comparisons occur with many female artists. In the 2000s, the topic of comparison was between Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera just because they were young blonde singers.
Shakira and Beyoncé make different music. Shakira is heavily inspired by her Latin roots and makes dance music. Beyoncé’s music was heavily R&B and hip-hop inspired, although has changed to include country influences.
Whether she copied the The Texas Hold’Em singer is up for debate. Both singers must’ve taken inspiration from each other at least once since their collaboration, and what is wrong with that?
