Ginny and Georgia season 2 premiered in January 2023 and two and a half years later, we will have season 3. Season 3 will release in June 2025 on Netflix and picks up where we left off. But we will get into that.
Subsequently after season 1, the show skyrocketed to the top of Netflix charts. In fact, in May 2023, it was renewed for seasons 3 and 4, solidifying it’s space in the Netflix drama genre. The show follows Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey) a young single mother on-the-run with her daughter Ginny (Antonia Gentry). The ladies settle in the rich New England town of Wellsbury, but Georgia has demons from her past that threaten to haunt the family.

What happened in Ginny and Georgia season 2?

Episodes 1 – 5
Season 2 begins with Ginny and her brother Austin (Disel La Torraca) staying at her father Zion’s house. (Nathan Mitchell). Ginny struggles with the fact her mom killed her stepdad Kenny, even though he was handsy with Ginny. As a result, she is experiencing lots of intense feelings and is engaging in self-harm.
After spending Thanksgiving with her father and his family, she confesses this to him, and he urges her to go therapy. Georgia is insistent her children come home and they do, but with hesitation.
Ginny, Georgia and Paul
Meanwhile, Ginny and the fallout of her relationship with Marcus is shown in episode one. Georgia doesn’t approve, but a tender moment between them shows she accepts it.
Back at school, Ginny is iced out by Mang, so she, for some reasons, puts a blue streak in her hair and cosies up to Abby (Katie Douglas) who is also out of the friend group because she kept the relationship a secret. Simultaneously, Georgia prepares to do a trial move in with her beau Paul Randolph (Scott Porter), which Ginny objects to.
In regards to the move in, Ginny expresses discomfort and makes Paul a shake (similar to the one Georgia made that killed Kenny) in warning to her mom.
Later, Paul urges Georgia to set boundaries with Ginny over Marcus sneaking in, but she doesn’t act. As Max and Marcus’ birthday approaches, Mang reconciles. Ginny’s secret relationship with Marcus had caused tension, especially with Max.
Paul’s role and the return of Gil
Ginny throws a party for the twins, and Max eventually accepts the relationship. She also apologizes to her ex Hunter for how she treated him.
In episode 5, Paul and Zion bond over the family’s new dynamic. Back home, Paul finds Georgia’s gun and confronts her. She apologizes for lying. The episode ends with Austin’s teacher meeting Gil (Aaron Ashmore)—his father—recently released, but not back for Austin.

Episodes 6 -10 of Ginny and Georgia

Breakups and family makeups
The second half of Ginny & Georgia season 2 kicks off with Christmas at the Millers. Georgia hosts dinner with Zion’s parents, who criticize her for running off with Ginny years ago. In response, Georgia lists her accomplishments. The mood shifts in episode six when she finds Ginny’s therapy journal and learns she’s been self-harming. Georgia confronts her, and Ginny breaks down.
Trying to help, Georgia takes Ginny to therapy, but the effort is short-lived. In episode seven, Georgia has her bachelorette party at Joe’s (Raymond Ablack) café—awkwardly inviting him. Meanwhile, Gil resurfaces, threatening Georgia and physically assaulting her. Flashbacks reveal his abuse, which led her to leave him years ago.
While Georgia struggles, Marcus spirals. Despite dating Ginny, he feels depressed and tells Max he shouldn’t be in a relationship. Ginny misinterprets his words, and overwhelmed by her own issues, fails to notice his mental health decline. They later break up, with Ginny saying, “You’re breaking us.”
Meanwhile, Georgia forms a surprising bond with PTA rival Cynthia (Sabrina Grdevich), who’s caring for her comatose husband Tom. After Cynthia witnesses Gil threatening Georgia, she blocks him from renting in Wellsbury. Georgia learns Cynthia slept with Joe. In a twisted act of mercy, Georgia smothers Cynthia’s husband, believing she’s helping her.
Gil attacks Georgia again, but Austin shoots him in a dramatic moment. Gil survives, and the Millers hide the incident from Paul.
In the finale, Ginny plans Georgia’s wedding. Georgia, feeling the weight of her secrets, tells Paul everything the night before. They marry—but during the reception, police arrive and arrest Georgia for Tom Fuller’s murder. Despite Austin witnessing the crime, Georgia’s colleague Nick tips them off. The season ends with Georgia in handcuffs.
