Mikey Madison’s leading role in Anora established her as a modern day star. It was all the more remarkable considering it was her first leading role and it earned her an Oscar for Best Actress just a few weeks ago.
It’s a huge accomplishment to land such a huge prize relatively early in her career, and she’s also the ninth youngest actress to have claimed that award. Of course, it hasn’t come without graft. In fact, there is a chance that even without having seen Anora, you may have caught Madison on screen before.

Madison appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 blockbuster as Susan ‘Sadie’ Atkins. Atkins was a real-life murderer who was part of Charles Manson’s ‘Family’.
Her character was one of the three Manson members who broke into Rick Dalton’s (Leonardo DiCaprio) house at the end of the movie. They went on to attack the actor and his stuntman/driver, Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt).
One of the most notable aspects of Madison’s appearance in the film was how her character died. Dalton retrieves a flamethrower prop from his shed and incinerates her while she’s thrashing about in a swimming pool.
Scream
In 2022, Madison starred in the fifth instalment of the Scream franchise. She plays Amber Freeman, a friend of student Tara Carpenter, who becomes Ghostface’s latest target.
As the film goes on, Amber’s cruel intentions eventually come to light. Funnily enough, Madison’s character meets her demise in a very similar way to how her character died in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. Gale (Courteney Cox) shoots Amber, causing her to fall onto a lit gas stove and burn to death.
Better Things
Madison had a substantial part in the FX comedy drama Better Things, which aired between 2016 and 2022. At the beginning of the series, Madison was still a teenager.

She played Max, one of the three daughters of Sam Fox (Pamela Adlon), a divorced actress raising her children by herself. Max was the eldest daughter, an often volatile personality but with a good heart deep down. The show lasted for five seasons.
“Better Things was like my college,” she said. “It was my college experience, it was my film school, and my acting school.”
The Addams Family
Madison has a role in an animated film to her name. She appeared in the 2019 CGI family comedy The Addams Family in a minor role as Candi the barista.
