Sinners has been out for a week, and its rave reviews have moviegoers talking. The Ryan Coogler horror film is set in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and begins with the return of two gangster brothers, Smoke and Stack. Played by Michael B. Jordan, the brothers return to their hometown to set up a juke joint but are met with a supernatural evil to fight. The film features breakout stars like Miles Caton, making people curious about the Sinners cast.

Although the film has not been groundbreaking at the box office success, it has still earned $71 million as of late April. Stars have come to the defence of Coogler and his film, with Patrick Schwarzenegger criticizing an article commenting on the box office value over the opening weekend.

Sinners cast: Their previous roles
Michael B. Jordan
Michael B. Jordan is the star of Sinners, he plays twins. But he has had many successful roles before the horror film.
Before the vampire horror, Jordan was a TV actor. He starred on the soap All My Children for 3 seasons from 2003 to 2006. Later, he played Adonis Creed in the seventh Rocky film, Creed, which was directed by Ryan Coogler.
Perhaps his biggest role was as the villain Erik Killmonger in Black Panther and Wakanda Forever, also by Coogler. Universally, Jordan was praised for this role and cemented himself as a serious actor in Hollywood.
Hailee Steinfeld
Before she was a singer, Hailee Steinfeld was an actress. Before playing Mary in Sinners, she had several notable roles. Her first came as a teenager, where she played Mattie in True Grit, a revenge-seeking 14-year-old seeking to hunt down her father’s killer.
Three years later, she starred in the science fiction film Ender’s Game and played Petra Arkanian in 2013. One of her grittier performances was in the 2016 coming-of-age film The Edge of Seventeen, where Steinfeld plays Nadine, an awkward teenager with lots of problems with her family and socialization.
Wunmi Mosaku
Wunmi Mosaku wowed audiences with her role as Annie in Sinners, Smoke’s old lover, and a woman with a power over everything mystical.
One of Mosaku’s early roles was in a season of Vera in 2011, playing Holly Lawson. She gained recognition and won a BAFTA for her role in Damilola, Our Loved Boy.
In the film, she played Gloria Taylor, Damiola’s mother. She played Hunter B-15/Verity Willis in Marvel’s Deadpool and Wolverine in 2024.
Jack O’Connell
If you look at Jack O’Connell, you’ll likely recognize him for one role. Before he was Remmick, the leader of the vampires, he was James Cook. As a teenager, O’Connell played the womanizing and rebellious Cook on the E4 teenage drama series Skins.
After some supporting roles on the big screen, he played his first big role in Unbroken in 2014, which saw him play real-life Olympic runner Louis Zamperini, a man who survives a plane crash in the Second World War and gets captured by Japanese soldiers. In 2024, he portrayed Amy Winehouse’s husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, in a biopic about the singer.
Jayme Lawson
Jayme Lawson may’ve given a sexy performance as the gorgeous Pearline, but before she was Pearline, she was elsewhere. Lawson had a few movie roles before Sinners, with her most well-known being Bella Reál in The Batman. She played a mayoral candidate for Gotham City in the film. Two years later, in the HBO TV series The Penguin, she reprised the role.
After that, Lawson played a young Michelle Obama in the TV show The First Lady.
Omar Benson Miller
In Sinners, Omar Benson Miller’s portrayal of Cornbread was one of the highlights of the movie, but what else has he been in? Miller is better known for his TV work. He starred as Walter Simmons on CSI: Miami, a Crime Scene Investigator. He later started on the sports drama Ballers and played Charles Greane, a retired NFL player looking for a new job.
Also, he starred in the sitcom The Unicorn alongside Walton Goggins. Miller played Ben, Wade’s friend and a coach of the football team.
Li Jun Li
Li Jun Li played a minor role in Sinners as Grace, the wife of a local store owner, but she made her mark. Her early roles were mainly on-stage, but in 2016, she had a recurring role as FBI agent Iris Chang in Quantico. She starred in The Exorcist show as Rose Cooper.
Notably, she had a prominent role in the 2020 film Babylon, where she played a role inspired by silent film actress Anna May Wong. She also starred in Netflix’s Wu Assassins.
Miles Caton
Of the Sinners cast, Miles Caton is the one with the fewest acting credits. In fact, his role as Sammie the musician and preacher’s son in Sinners is his first and breakthrough acting role!
Delroy Lindo
Delroy Lindo is an established actor. Despite having a minor role in Sinners as Slim, he has an extensive acting resume. He played West Indian Archie, a gangster, in the Spike Lee film Malcolm X in 1992, as well as three other movies by Lee. Additionally, he played Adrian Boseman in The Good Fight from 2017 until 2021.
In addition, he also starred in the comedy series Unprisoned in 2023.
