There’s a new OJ simpson documentary doing the rounds and its name is American Manhunt: OJ Simpson.
This new true crime release comes from director Floyd Russ. The same filmmaker was behind 2023’s gripping American Manhunt: Boston Marathon Bombing. This time, Russ takes a reflective look at one of the biggest and most notorious legal dramas of recent years – the trial of OJ Simpson.

Of course, as one of the most watched television events of the 1990s, this particular topic has been covered in-depth before. There’s been Ezra Edelman’s gripping 2016 documentary feature OJ: Made in America and a fictionalised version of the same story in The People Vs OJ Simpson: American Crime Story in 2016.
However American Manhunt: OJ Simpson differs in its approach by conducting new interviews with those closest to the case alongside capturing conversations with never-before-filmed witnesses.

Speaking of his decision to revisit such an infamous topic, Russ explained that “This is a story that has so many faces and so many elements,” adding that “when you contextualize it historically it takes on a new form every few years.”

In American Manhunt: OJ Simpson, Russ conducts new interviews to offer a new perspective of a well-known murder case.
“This four-episode docuseries takes an in-depth look at the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman and the trial that dominated the news cycle in the mid-1990s, from the chase on LA freeways to the riveting court proceedings,” explains the show’s official synopsis.

In addition to speaking to people who have been interviewed before, Russ also interviews two people who have never publicly discussed their involvement in the case. These are Skip Junis and Jill Shively.
The former has previously testified in front of a grand jury that she had seen Simpson near the crime scene on the night of Nicole Simpson’s murder. Not only that but he was running a red light. As the documentary reveals, Junis also also claims to have seen other damning events on the same night.
