The billionaire is a triple passport holder who holds US, South African and Canadian citizenship. However, a petiiton going through Canada’s parliament is trying take him down a peg.

Why is their a petition trying to remove Elon Musk as a Canadian citizen?
Well, the petition argues that Musk’s work with Trump’s White House undermines Canadian sovereignty.
For example, he recently called Canada “not a real country”.

Along with Vivek Ramaswamy, the SpaceX CEO is heading up the Department Of Goverment Efficiency, otherwise known as DOGE. The meme-inspired enteprise seeks to eradicate goverment ‘waste’ and cut so-called redundant functions.
The petition accuses the Tesla founder of being involved “in activities that go against the national interest of Canada” by acting as an adviser to President Trump. It adds that the billionaire has become “a member of a foreign government that is attempting to erase Canadian sovereignty.”
What is Trump doing to Canada?
Trump’s winning attempt to retake the Oval Office involved a lot of threats of put tariffs on Canadian exports to the US. This has led to a heated back and forth between the US president and Trudeau.

Trump has also threatened to annex the neighbouring country and make it the 51st state.
Trudeau gave a firm response to the threatened import taxes on steel and aluminum, dubbing them “entirely unjustified” while asserting Canada would react back “if it comes to that”.
