A woman in the United Kingdom has won nearly £30,000 after being compared to Darth Vader at work.

Lorna Rooke was an NHS Blood Donation worker when the incident took place. The comparison arose during a psychology quiz that was being used as a team building exercise.

During the test, employees were sorted into different categories that claimed to determine their approach to work and task management.

The quiz was a Star Wars themed version of the popular Mysers-Brigg Psychology questionnaire. It placed participants into four separate sections.

These were based on a range of factors and included ‘Introversion’, ‘Intuition’, ‘Decision Making’ and ‘Worldly Perception’.

While the quiz was taking place, Lorna was out of the room on a call. As a result, it was taken on her behalf by a co-worker who read out the results to all of her colleagues.

However, Rooke wasn’t too keen on being compared to an intergalactic mega-villain – despite the quiz labelling him as a ‘very focused individual’ with a knack for bringing people together.

“Being aligned with his personality is insulting”

Rooke ultimately resigned from her position a month after this unfortunate incident, saying that it made her feel unpopular in her workplace. Kathryn Ramsden, an Employment Judge thought she was right as well, admitting it was “little wonder” that the moment caused Rooke some distress.

“Darth Vader is a legendary villain of the Star Wars series, and being aligned with his personality is insulting,” added Ramsden, as per the Metro.

After going to tribunal, it was found that Rooke’s decision to leave her job was caused in some part by this comparison. She was then awarded £28,989.61 in compensation, all for being compared to an evil Sith Lord.

It’s no wonder Rooke wasn’t too keen on being compared to Darth Vader. After all, he’s famous for being perhaps the most notorious movie baddie of all time.

First appearing in 1977’s Star Wars, this imposing figure is the primary villain of the whole Skywalker Saga.

His story was concluded in 1983’s Return of the Jedi before Star Wars creator George Lucas decided to delve into his history in three prequel movies released in the late nineties and throughout the early 2000s.
