- SummerSlam 2025 will be the first time the event has been over two nights
- Cardi B will host the show
- The event will be WWE’s second biggest show of the year

SummerSlam 2025 is already a history making show without a single match being announced. And we’re still over five months removed from The Biggest Party of the Summer.
For the first time ever, WWE’s marquee summer showdown will take place over two nights, following in the footsteps of WrestleMania, which expanded to a full weekend event, initially due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, but then to more appropriately pace an ever expanding match card in 2022.
To further amplify the newly expanded enormity of this summer’s show, Cardi B has been tasked with special guest hosting duties, generating some added Grammy winning, diamond certified stardust to what will surely be a stacked card.
As is the case with every major WWE event in 2025, it will be the final SummerSlam John Cena will compete in as an in-ring competitor. The 16-time World Champion is currently in the early stages of his retirement tour, which will take in a reported 30-40 dates throughout 2025.
But where is SummerSlam 2025 taking place? Who else is going to be on the show? When is it happening? Look no further than our handy guide below…
When is SummerSlam 2025?
SummerSlam 2025 will take place across the weekend of August 2 and August 3, 2025.
Where is SummerSlam 2025?
The show will take place at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey (NOT New York). Metlife, home to the New York Jets and Giants of the NFL, also played host to WrestleMania 29 and 35 and will host the FIFA World Cup final in 2026. For a wrestling event, the stadium in the Garden State can hold just north of 82,000 people, meaning WWE will comfortably obliterate the current SummerSlam attendance record across both nights, as well as breaking the company’s record gate for the event.
What Time Will the Show Start Each Night?
No official start time has been confirmed for the show at the time of writing, but last year’s show began at 8pm Eastern/7pm Central/5pm Pacific, meaning a bell time of 1am for fans in the United Kingdom.
Where Can I Watch SummerSlam 2025?
If you’re in the United States, you can either watch SummerSlam on Peacock or buy it on Pay-Per-View. Outside of the US, the event will be broadcast live, for the first time ever, on Netflix.
SummerSlam 2025 Match Card
With the event still five months away, no matches have been booked as of yet. However, expect storylines to begin formulating leading to SummerSlam around June or July time. With two nights to fill this year, more programmes will be fleshed out across Raw and SmackDown over the summer, probably not long after the dust has settled on WrestleMania 41 in mid-April.
Last year’s SummerSlam was a show of highly anticipated matches and even higher drama, with Roman Reigns returning in the main event to aid his longtime rival Cody Rhodes retain the WWE Title over his own cousin, Solo Sikoa. The return was Reigns’ first appearance on WWE programming since his nearly four-year reign as champion ended at the hands of Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 the previous April.
Elsewhere on the show, Finn Balor and the Judgement Day turned their backs on Damian Priest, costing their former friend the World Heavyweight Championship in his title defence against Gunther. And that wasn’t the only betrayal the faction were responsible for that night in Cleveland, with Dominik Mysterio siding with Liv Morgan over his longterm ‘Mami’ Rhea Ripley in the Women’s World Title bout.
The show also saw Drew McIntyre and CM Punk finally go one-on-one, with Seth Rollins serving as special guest referee, while LA Knight brought an end to Logan Paul’s United States Title reign, with new Intercontinental and Women’s Champions also being crowned in the form of Bron Breakker and Nia Jax, respectively.
