- Actors Zendaya and Timothee Chalamet appeared to have been cast in a reboot of the 1990 film, Edward Scissorhands – until fans realized it was an AI movie poster
- The pair looked to have taken on the roles made famous by Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder in the original movie
- Some fans were taken in by the the fake poster, saying that, “a remake wasn’t needed”

They’re two of the biggest stars of the moment.
So fans of Zendaya and Timothee Chalamet went wild at the news they are starring in a rebooted version of Edward Scissorhands… before realizing that the movie poster was fake.
In a post by Facebook user Michael L. Null, Chalamet, 28, can be seen in the titular role made famous by Johnny Depp in the 1990 original film. Standing next to him, Zendaya, 27, appears to have been cast as Kim Boggs, played by Winona Ryder in the first movie – but the poster is actually an AI imagining of the film.
While some were quick to catch on that the poster had been fabricated, others were a little slow off the mark.
“I’m so tired of these remakes!!! Please leave the classics alone, shit please leave the 80s and 90s in its place. I hate it here!!” wrote one exasperated user, while another added, “Omg. The original Edward Scissorhands is my all time favorite film. I don’t know how I feel about this. It wasn’t needed.”
A third continued, “No offense to the actors but they need to stop remaking films, especially classics or Tim Burton films,” while someone else chimed in, “I know, I know, our generation had the best movies for the last 30+ yrs. We get it, you all don’t have time to create anything new! Whether fake or not, too many 80s and early 90s movies are being remade… cinema has gone down the damn drain… no originality, no talent, no imagination.”
While those who believed the poster was real may have been left with egg on their faces, it wouldn’t be the first time that Zendaya and Chalamet have worked together.
The pair starred together in the sci-fi movie franchise Dune and Dune: Part Two, the latter of which debuted earlier this year.
