It has been two years since Taylor Swift‘s The Eras Tour started. On 17 March 2023, history was made as Swift began her 21-month-long tour in Glendale, Arizona. Swift’s tour was so iconic that it had its concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and made $2 billion in ticket sales.

The Eras Tour was unique because each section of Swift’s set was made from a different era. The eras correspond with Swift’s ten studio albums. When she released The Tortured Poet’s Department in April 2024, that was added in as an era. Additionally, the costumes and set are the colors associated with the era, with Fearless being purple, Reputation being red and black, and Lover being pastel.

Swift concluded the tour in December 2024 and fans were devastated. But that doesn’t mean The Eras Tour doesn’t live on. Since the tour began exactly two years ago there have been many legendary moments. Here are the best ones across the almost two-year tour!

1. Opening night of The Eras Tour, 17 March 2023

The opening night of the tour was a historic moment for Swifties. This set the tone for the tour and everything back then was brand new. Fans discovered Swift was singing 44 songs and the online hysteria was unmatched. If you were on X back then, live updates and live streams flooded our timelines. It was a moment for the books!

2. Swift’s emotional performance of Champagne Problems – 20 March 2023

On 20 March, Swift gave one of the most emotional performances to date. In a video captured by a fan, she played the fan’s favorite song Champagne Problems while looking as if she would cry.

The emotional performance is forever ingrained in our brains. Fans didn’t know at the time, but it was believed the emotional performance was due to Swift’s breakup with Joe Alywn. Alwyn and Swift’s split was shocking when it was announced in April 2023. The couple had been dating since 2016 and ended their relationship after 6 years.

3. Swift defends a fan from a security guard – 15 May 2023

Swift is never one who is labeled with the ‘diva’ label, but this moment had us thinking, ‘Who is this diva’? At a show on 15 May 2023, the singer is seen yelling at a security guard. The video is even more iconic because Swift does this during a performance of her song Bad Blood. The only bad blood that night was between her and the security guard.

@brilayfield

As she heads into the chorus of the song, she observes a fan and a security guard and says, “She’s fine”! Then as she sings the lyrics ‘Now we’ve got bad blood,’ Swift continues, “She wasn’t even doing anything!” As Swift walks away, she notices the security guard doing something and yells, “Hey, stop!”

Not only was this moment iconic because of the angry bad girl anthem, but it was also great because the 35-year-old stopped to check on her fan.

Also in a surprise, Swift’s ex Taylor Lautner, and actress Joey King joined her on stage. When entering the stage, Lautner did a backflip and the reunion between the exes had the crowd screaming. One of her most beloved re-recorded albums was announced on 10 August 2023, the last night of the US leg of the tour. In a speech, Swift announced that 1989 Taylor’s Version would be released on 27 October 2023. 1989 is considered one of Swift’s transcendent albums.

The album is about moving to New York and discovering life in your 20s, a relatable theme that fans came to adore. Among thousands of screaming fans, Swift showed the album cover of 1989 Taylor’s Version. The album included fan-favorite songs from the vault including Is It Over Now and Now That We Don’t Talk.

6. The Tortured Poet’s Department Joins The Eras Tour setlist – 19 May 2024

In May 2024, Swift debuted her new era, The Tortured Poet’s Department. She wore a white flowing dress and sang new hits like Who Is Afraid Of Little Old Me and The Tortured Poet’s Department.

This addition was significant because fans wondered if Swift would include the new era in the pre-determined setlist. Additionally, this era marked Swift’s first since her long-term relationship ended and the first with her Kansas City Chiefs boyfriend Travis Kelce. Kelce and Swift have been dating since 2023.

This era became a new but iconic fixture to the tour which fans of the singer came to appreciate.

Speaking of Kelce, his debut on tour was iconic. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end had been spotted at a few shows. There was even the viral kiss caught on camera where Swift ran to him after performing at the show and locked lips with him. It was like a movie! But nobody was more shocked than fans in the audience in London on 24 June 2024, when Swift brought Kelce out on stage for a dance bit.

During The Tortured Poet’s Department Era, Kelce came on stage in a tuxedo and a top hat. In a dramatic moment, Kelce carried Swift and fanned her as 1920s-style music played in the background. Silently and in character, Kelce gestures for Swift to dance and perform for the crowd as she goes into singing I Can Do It With A Broken Heart. Karma is the guy on the Chiefs!

During her performance of Long Live, she changed the lyrics from “It was the end of a decade” to “It was the end of an era.” Who is cutting onions?
