- The first trailer for 28 Years Later has made its way online
- It’s made fans want to revisit Danny Boyle’s original movie
- Yet finding it on a streaming service has proved difficult

28 Years Later has unleashed its first trailer, dragging fans back into Danny Boyle’s Rage virus-ravaged Britain introduced in 2002’s 28 Days Later.
The teaser was short and sweet but it certainly made an impact. Set against a chilling recital of Rudyard Kipling’s 1903 poem Boots – something used in actual Navy training programmes – the tension slowly builds to an unnerving crescendo.

Throughout the chaos, viewers became convinced they had spotted original movie star Jim, played by Oppenheimer’s Cillian Murphy. Although, if it is Jim, he’s seen better days.
The trailer not only got fans excited for Boyle and Murphy’s long-awaited return to the franchise, it also made many want to revisit the 2002 original 28 Days Later.
However, trying to find the movie on a streaming service has proved impossible. The good news is that these struggles will soon be over – so where can you stream 28 Days Later?
Below, you’ll find all the information you need…
Why isn’t 28 Days Later on any streaming service?

It didn’t take fans long to discover that 28 Days Later isn’t currently on any streaming service.
Boyle’s film isn’t available to rent or buy and it isn’t even available on Blu-Ray. Unfortunately for fans, the only way to watch it is to find an old DVD copy or to watch it through some other illegal means.
Thankfully, that will soon change – but what was the original issue that left it absent in the first place?
The reason behind its absence is rights-related. The original studio that financed the movie was Fox Searchlight which became property of Disney when the company took over Fox in 2019.

According to Forbes, Disney ultimately lost the rights to the movie and they ended up staying with Sony. However, because Sony didn’t make a deal with a streamer, it has remained missing.
According to reports, it’s still unclear where 28 Years Later will end up but Sony has launched a new web page where fans can enter their details and get notified as soon as it becomes available to pre-order digitally.
This pre-order route could mean the movie will remain digital-only and skip any of the big streamers. Either way, fans should finally be able to – legally – watch 28 Days Later soon.
We’re guessing the film will be available before 28 Years Later hits screens.
When is 28 Years Later released?

28 Years Later will be released theatrically on 20 June 2025 in America and the United Kingdom.
The film is set to star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes and Jody Comer and is based on a new story by original movie screenwriter Alex Garland.
The film is set to kick-start a new trilogy, with The Marvels director Nia DaCosta helming the film’s second instalment 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple.
