The wait is over as Call of Duty’s Season 1 is all set to hit shelves this week, and the gaming community is abuzz with the launch of Ranked Play on November 21.
Treyarch’s Efforts to Combat Cheating
While the excitement is high, some players aim to destroy it through cheating making the game unfair and frustrating. To deal with such anomalies, Treyarch is releasing updates to improve its Anti-Cheat system, called Ricochet, especially for its new Ranked play mod.
Previously in October Activision shared a detailed post regarding this AI-powered RICOCHET Anti-Cheat, which aims to detect and hunt down cheaters. Since Black Ops 6’s global release on October 25, this system has been working efficiently.
It is constantly monitoring suspicious activity and analyzing the ocean of data points to keep such players at bay. Recently COD has shared another post for this update explaining,
“a new behavioral model to analyze for anomalous skill has recorded and categorized over 4.4 million data points per hour at its peak.” Anti-cheat systems intervened in over 582,000 matches to remove suspicious accounts before they could win, as well as removing thousands of accounts before they played a single game.”
Keeping the Game Fair for All
Treyarch’s latest updates aim to boost Ranked Play security even further in certain ways. The AFK detection focuses on preventing players from being idle in the game instead of playing to rank up.
Another one goes as Ping adjustments– discourages the use of VPN so players remain connected to their own region.Last but not least, in Ranked mode if a player reaches a high rank (Crimson or above), any request to change their username will be reviewed to stop players from abusing the ranking system.
Meanwhile, Ricochet’s Replay Investigation Tool will allow the team to watch replays of completed matches and investigate dubious activity, especially among top players.
The Black Ops 6 is doing pretty well so far to keep the player base high and the developers are committed to maintaining the competitive environment at all costs. This anti-cheat system will be looking over other modes as well that will be rolling out shortly.
