- WWE’s 2025 Royal Rumble will be headlined by two Rumble matches
- The first Royal Rumble to not take place in January
- Cody Rhodes will defend his WWE Title against Kevin Owens in a ladder match

The WWE Royal Rumble is an event steeped in sports entertainment history. For over 35 years WWE’s signature over-the-top-rope extravaganza has officially kicked off the road to WrestleMania and helped create a few megastars along the way. This year, in Indianapolis, the Rumble will provide the starting point for a journey that could culminate at the biggest WrestleMania of all time, in Las Vegas.
Not only will this year’s Rumble see the usual two 30 person Battle Royal-style matches (one each for the men and women’s divisions) but it will also be the first time the event has been streamed live on Netflix, with WWE’s new $5b deal with the streaming platform including broadcasting rights for all pay-per-view events outside of the United States (which will still air this year’s Rumble on Peacock and Pay-Per-View).
This year’s show will also mark the beginning of John Cena’s retirement tour and his final ever appearance in a Royal Rumble match – a match he has won twice already in his illustrious, Hall of Fame worthy career (in 2008 and 2013). In a few weeks, the 16-time World Champion could join Stone Cold Steve Austin as the only other person to win three Rumble matches.
