Zendaya and Tom Holland are the talk of the town as the two are allegedly engaged. Although there is no confirmation from the couple yet, Zendaya’s ring is a big indicator.

The actress showed up to the 2025 Golden Globes with a Jessica McCormack diamond ring on her ring finger. McCormack is a London-based jewelry designer, and the size of the ring sparked rumors of an engagement between Zendaya and Holland.
Tomdaya has known each other for years. They met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016.
They quickly became fast friends, appearing together on the red carpet and during press for the movie.

Publicly, they have praised each other and been seen out together – but how long have they been dating? Let’s break down the timeline.
Who is Zendaya?
Zendaya is an American actress born on September 1, 1996. She had her big break on Disney Channel, playing teenage dancer Rocky Blue on Shake It Up alongside fellow actress Bella Thorne.
Later she starred in a few Disney comedies and another Disney show, K.C. Undercover. After Disney, the 28-year-old transitioned into adult roles, playing Rue Bennett in the HBO show Euphori and more recently retired tennis player Tashi Donaldson, and, of course, Michelle (MJ) Jones in the Spider-Man universe.
Who is Tom Holland?
Holland is a British actor born on 1 June 1996.
Holland’s big break was as Spider-Man, playing Peter Parker first in the MCU. He has starred as Spiderman in the leading role in three movies, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home.
Holland’s other work includes The Devil All The Time and in 2026, he will star in Avengers: Doomsday.
How did Zendaya and Tom Holland meet?
As we have said, the actors met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016. Zendaya and Holland became fast friends and in July 2016, Zendaya shared a cover story the two did for The Hollywood Reporter. She gushed about Holland, calling him “the very best…Spider-Man himself @tomholland2013”.
During this time, the actors would be seen hanging out with each other at award shows throughout 2016 and early 2017, although there were no indicators they were dating during this time.
When did relationship rumors start?
The relationship rumors for TomDaya started in the summer of 2017, more so during the press tour for Homecoming.
In July 2017, PEOPLE reported that they were together. The source said: “They started seeing each other while they were filming Spider-Man,” they continued, “They’ve been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but they’ve gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another”.
The Spider-Man stars never confirmed this rumor, although they did call each other ‘best friends’ during this time.
Best friends?
There was some form of denial, shortly before the premiere of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Holland called Zendaya his “best friend”. He said to PEOPLE: “We are like the best of friends. She’s so great and amazing,” he gushed.
“I’m a little worried [about dealing with fame … but] Zendaya is super famous and she’s been through this and I just call her up and say, ‘How do I manage being famous?’ I’m very glad I have a friend like her”.
A few months later, Zendaya also echoed the bestie sentiment. She spoke to Variety about her co-star in August 2017. In the interview, she said “he’s one of my best friends,” and described Holland as a “great dude”.

Dating other people
Throughout 2019, Zendaya and Holland supported each other and hung out together on and off the set of Spider-Man. During this time, however, the two did not appear to be dating, at least not publicly. In 2019, the internet was shocked by rumors that Zendaya was dating her Euphoria co-star Jacob Elordi, who plays Nate Jacobs in the show.
In August 2019, a post showed Elordi and Zendaya on holiday together in Greece. They were spotted many times after that, but by 2020, whatever they had fizzled out. However, the two never confirmed they dated or had a relationship.
Meanwhile, Holland didn’t seem to be dating anyone officially, although he was linked to several ladies. In 2020, rumors swirled about Holland dating Doctor Who actress Nadia Parkes. Apparently, at the time, Parkes appeared on his Instagram feed, and they took a vacation to Berlin.
Before that, for around a year, he allegedly dated a family friend, Olivia Bolton. Evidence for this romance is a bit better, as the two were spotted getting close at Hyde Park in London, although they reportedly broke up in April 2020, according to Elle.
When did Zendaya and Tom Holland confirm their romance?
Everyone rejoiced and screamed and shouted when this news broke. In July 2021, Zendaya and Holland broke the internet. They were pictured looking close in a car by paparazzi, confirming a relationship between them.
The official confirmation came straight from the horse’s mouth two months later in September 2021. Tomdaya went Instagram official on his page. He posted a photo of the two on-set with him in costume and Zendaya smiling next to him. He wished Zendaya a happy 25th birthday, writing: “My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays. Gimme a call when your up xxx”. None of us will ever forget that fateful day three years ago.

How long have Zendaya and Tom Holland been dating?
By the calculations, if they were first spotted together in July 2021, then Zendaya and Holland would technically have been dating for three years and six months.
However, if we consider that they may’ve had something before then during 2017 or just before, then it could be even longer. With that being said, the rumors of the co-stars dating before 2021 aren’t verified and since they dated other people and called each other “best friends” in 2017, we can’t count that.
Since they were first spotted in July 2021, we think they started dating a few months before that. Therefore, we can say they have been dating since 2021 or maybe 2020, considering both were single for the latter part of 2020.
But remember, nothing during this time was confirmed, whether it was rumored romances between Zendaya and Holland or their romances with other people.
