This genetically-altered beast is only briefly glimpsed but its unusual look caught the attention of dino-fans worldwide.
While little about it has been confirmed, Jurassic Park obsessives have wasted no time giving it its own name. Not only that but sites like Reddit have been flooded with speculation, fanart and investigative dino-journalism surrounding this mutated monstrosity.

Of course, it won’t be the main driving force behind Jurassic Park Rebirth.
According to the film’s official plot line, that’ll revolve around a group of mercenaries trying to extract some all-important DNA from the three largest surviving dinosaurs.
That said, the D-Rex is sure to play a huge part in whatever story we find lurking on the long-forgotten research facility that we’ll visit in Jurassic World Rebirth.
What is the Jurassic World Rebirth D-Rex?

According to supposed plot details that leaked onto a since-deleted Reddit thread, the D-Rex is a mutated dinosaur and failed cloning experiment cooked up by Jurassic Park scientists on Site C.
If we are to believe the same reports, its name stands for ‘Diabolus Rex’ with the creature itself genetically engineered to include different features of deadly apex predators.
Little is known about its abilities but many have assumed it takes its cues from the T-Rex and velociraptors. Reddit has also suggested that the D-Rex can extend its jaws just like a snake to gobble its prey and disguise its skin colour, much like Jurassic World’s Indominious Rex.
In addition to arms and legs, the D-Rex also boasts an additional pair of forearms alongside a large, dome-liked head, similar to the Pacheacephalasaurus.
When Reddit users found leaked data about Jurassic World Rebirth’s upcoming toy line, they deduced that the D-Rex will indeed be the ‘Villain dino’ of the new movie. This makes sense, considering its imposing presence in the film’s trailer.
As a failed clone, the D-Rex was supposedly dumped on Jurassic Park’s Site C and forgotten about… until now.
What has Gareth Edwards said about the D-Rex?

Internet sleuthing aside, Edwards has remained relatively tight-lipped regarding the big-bad D-Rex.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, he spilt a little information about its look, specifically saying that he pulled from a couple of other iconic movie monsters to fill out its visuals.
“Some Rancor went in there, some H.R. Giger went in there, a little T. rex went in there…” teased Edwards, first referencing Jabba The Hutt’s fearsome Return of the Jedi creature and then the Alien franchise’s Xenomorph.
As for what else the D-Rex has in store for us? Well, we’ll have to wait for Jurassic World Rebirth’s July release to find out for sure.
