- PS Plus subscribers must pay full price for Days Gone remaster
- Reddit users voice frustration over lack of $10 upgrade option
- PS4 owners can upgrade to PS5 version for just $10

Fans who were excited to lay hands on the Days Gone remaster version are disappointed now, PlayStation Plus players cannot get the upgrade for the game in $10 instead they will have to pay full price.
Sony’s Bold Pricing Strategy
This announcement has left PS Plus subscribers frustrated and they are expressing it through social media like Reddit. During the PlayStation State of Play event, Sony made an announcement regarding the remaster, which is set to launch on 25 April 2025.
Although it brought excitement to the community after learning about Sony’s business strategy, not everyone was happy. The Reddit user, u/kabirsingh84, shared the news revealing that PS Plus copies of Days Gone wouldn’t be eligible for the $10 upgrade to the PS5 remaster and they will have to pay $49.99.
Days Gone was available to these users through the PS Plus collection and different offers. Players get the game for free, but now, if they want to play the remastered version, they must pay the full cost.
On the other hand, PS4 players are having a good time amid chaos; those who own a physical or digital copy of Days Gone on PS4 can upgrade to the PS5 version by paying just $10.
PS Plus Subscribers Feel Left Out
The news has led to disappointed reactions from PS Plus subscribers. Many of them say that they aren’t willing to pay $49.99 just for a slightly improved version of a game that they already have.
One user, Maarten3d, said, “That’s me! I got it when I bought my PS5 and would have been interested, but if I have to first buy the original game in order to upgrade, I’m out.”
Another user, “teckn9ne79, said,” They should let Essentials upgrade cause I would pay the $10, but I will not buy it any other way. I will stick with the one I got.”
One user on Reddit, “squarejellyfish_,” highlighted that many players would have shown interest in paying $10 to play the remaster even for a short time, and other users agreed to their comment.
“They would actually have made a decent chunk of change if PS plus players were eligible; even if most didn’t want to play it, they’d at least be interested in paying 10 bucks to try it out for an hour or two.”
Despite the criticism and backlash, for some players, Sony’s move isn’t surprising as they think that company has taken this decision after careful consideration and by keeping in view the financial aspect.
Also Sony has already done like this in the past, making it understandable that this isn’t new strategy for the company and their users.
