- Oscars stream on Hulu cut off before several major awards were announced
- Viewers took to social media to vent their outrage
- Anora director Sean Baker had just criticised streaming services before feed went down

Viewers watching the Oscars on Hulu were left seething after the streaming service cut their feed before some of the ceremony’s most prestigious awards were even announced.
Hulu’s stream was ridden with technical difficulties before widespread outages struck, causing viewers to miss the announcements of Best Actress and Best Picture.
The streaming giant’s technical snafu couldn’t have arrived at a more ironic time, given that Sean Baker, while giving his Best Director speech for Anora, had just encouraged audiences to get back to cinemas instead of streaming all their movies.
Viewers also fumed over missing Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s Wicked medley performance at the beginning of the show, to which Hulu posted on X, “Having issues logging in? If so – we’re on it! Our team is actively investigating, and we hope to have things back up and running soon.”
Unsurprisingly, this message did little to dissuade the masses from taking to social media to vent their outrage at Hulu for missing the awards for Best Actress and Best Picture.
Sean Baker gives a speech about why movie theaters are better than streaming services and then Hulu goes down right before Best Picture is announced…case in point

Hulu later posted, “Our team has identified the issue and users affected should be able to log back in again soon. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks so much for hanging in there! Our team took the necessary steps to resolve this, so you should be all set after rebooting your device. We appreciate your patience!” Which we are sure will have been very well received by social media users.
