The 2025 Oscars were held on March 2.

And as the stars turned out for the biggest night in Hollywood, fans took to social media to give their thoughts on the glittering ceremony.

From outfit criticisms, to disagreements about the category winners, here are the best reactions to the 2025 Oscars…

Mikey Madison wins Best Actress Oscar over Demi Moore

After Mikey Madison took home the Best Actress award for her role in Anora, some fans couldn’t help but be disappointed that the 25-year-old won over Demi Moore.

Moore, 62, was nominated for her stunning performance as Elisabeth Sparkle in The Substance – a body-horror where Sparkle starts using a mysterious injectable that promises a younger, better version of herself.

“Demi Moore losing to Mikey Madison is basically the plot of The Substance,” noted one, while another added, “Demi Moore just got substanced by Mikey Madison.”

Another person added, “I’m not pitting women against each other, I am a working writer and not a stan in case weirdos read this: Mikey winning Best Actress is such an interesting way to close out the Demi Moore press cycle for The Substance. Life imitates art etc.”

However, the inclusion of Moore’s character in the ceremony did spark this hit tweet…

Timothée Chalamet lost the Best Actor award to Adrien Brody

While Timothée Chalamet’s butter-yellow Givenchy suit gave fans a talking point, like Madison’s win, some were disappointed that he missed out on the Best Actor gong for his role as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.

Chalamet, 29, was pipped to the post by Adrien Brody, 51, in The Brutalist – although Brody’s controversial use of AI to enhance his accent in the movie caused upset.

“Timothée Chalamet lost the #Oscars after taking singing lessons for five years, after gaining weight, he did everything he could to deliver the best character possible, only to lose to Adrien Brody, who used AI,” complained one.

Someone else wrote, “Adrien Brody winning an award where they used AI to enhance his accent over Timothée Chalamet, Sebastian Stan, Ralph Fiennes, and Colman Domingo just shows how little The Academy actually cares about true acting skill.”

Emilia Pérez took home two awards

Emilia Pérez took home only two of the record eleven nominations it was up for – although it was still two too many for some fans.

“We were so hell bent on Emilia Perez not winning that we didn’t realize the real enemy behind us… Anora,” joked one, while another added of the musical’s, erm, interesting song, “The songs from Emilia Pérez came on and the whole party went nuts. We are all singing along to the beloved and memorable songs from the musical Emilia Pérez.”

Zoe Saldaña, 46, took home the Best Supporting Actress award, and Best Original Song for El Mal, by French songwriters Camille and Clément Ducol and their co-writer, the film’s director Jacques Audiard.

Bizarrely, the writers burst into a rendition of the track during their acceptance speech – which went down like a lead balloon online.

“I didn’t think all the Emilia Pérez stuff could get worse and then these bozo songwriters started singing,” commented one fan.

Better Man an Oscar winner in the eyes of fans

Nominated for only one category – Best Visual Effects, which was won by Dune: Part 2 – the Robbie Williams biopic Better Man is still a winner in the eyes of its fans.

“Just know Better Man is an Oscar winning film in my heart,” admitted one, as someone else said, “Genuinely couldn’t give less of a f*** about the Oscars this year due to how they snubbed the actual movie of the year (Better Man).”

“??? they literally turned Robbie Williams into a monkey. Better Man deserved to win i’m so heartbroken rn,” said another.

There were plenty of miscellaneous tweets that also made us laugh…

“No disrespect, but the costume design for Conclave – Mary, they already exist. They could have just rented the Vatican store room,” joked one, as another begged, “Are we sure it’s too late for Saoirse [Ronan] to win the Oscar for [2019’s] Little Women.”

Another viewer noticed some notable absences from the ceremony – as the actors are currently on location somewhere else!

“Damn, near half of Hollywood’s A list is missing from this year’s Oscars because [Christopher] Nolan is filming THE ODYSSEY in Marrakech lmao,” they laughed.

And just know that even though we were watching from home, many of us were channeling our inner Anna Wintour…
