Parker Posey is getting her first taste of TikTok fame for her attempt at scolding her on-screen daughter Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) for her Thai Buddhist monastery dreams.
The back story is that Posey is currently starring as Southern pill-popping matriarch Victoria Ratliff, who is holidaying with her family from their usual rich life in North Carolina. Very much out-of-her-comfort zone in Thailand, she has been given the bombshell of her kid wanting to relocate there permanently following her college graduation.
Victoria is also there with her husband Timothy (Jason Isaacs) and sons Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola).

Anyway, she is getting extra attention for her comedic accent, with its slow, elongated vowels and how she still sounds like she’s on lorazepam despite her man thieving them all to cope with the stress of looming fraud and embezzlement indictments.
It all began when Posey appeared on the Today show, telling the hosts on the NBC morning show, “It starts with the dialogue. There are such funny words like, I love ‘Piper, No’ ‘Tsunami!’ ‘Buddhism.’ ‘No…NO!’

Posey appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers earlier in March to explain some of the feedback she had gotten about her drawl.
“As an actor, you approach the text,” she said. “I had all these jokes, it was like, ‘OK, how can I really play it up and make this a character?’ This is what I love about the South because the South is full of self-made characters,” she told host Seth Meyers.
Previously, the Party Girl star told Deadline she wanted Victoria to sound “funny” and “snobby” in the Mike White-created show.
