Parker Posey revealed that she was told her southern accent in The White Lotus was “dead on”.
The actress appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers to promote the HBO series and spoke about perfecting her North Carolina twang. Posey plays pill-popping matriarch Victoria Ratliff, who is on vacation with her husband and their three kids in Thailand.
Work to prepare to tap into the particular accent included watching the Bravo show Southern Charm, a special request from the showrunner and noted reality TV fan Mike White.

Many have been raising their eyebrows at her accent, but this one lot of North Carolina residents at Paris Fashion Week were very impressed with her effort.
“I was in Paris—I was at the Valentino fashion show,” Parker told host Seth Meyers . “And there were these people from North Carolina at the hotel and they were like, ‘We just have to say, ‘We’re from North Carolina. We think you’re doing a great job. We love the accent—it’s dead on. You’ve got that part down.’”

Posey’s fictional family is made up of her on-screen husband Timothy (Jason Isaac), daughter Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola).
The family opted to vacation at the luxury resort because of Piper’s college research into a nearby Buddist meditation centre. However, she is about to drop the bomb that she intends to stay for a year.
Viewers of the anthology series already know this news will not be received well. Not only is the Ratliff family incredibly snobby and conservative, but Timothy appears to be under great stress. Details have not been revealed as to why, but he is currently facing fraud and embezzlement charges.

One of the greatest sources of comedy this season is Isaac’s character stealing his wife’s lorazepam to deal with the tremendous stress of the ordeal. In the fourth episode, she was greatly stressed to see that her prescription, which she had been eagle-eyed about counting, was dwindling fast from her purse. Now, fresh out, only time will tell how everyone will cope.
