Could we see Jessica Jones return to the small screen? If star Krysten Ritter gets her way, it could certainly happen.

Thanks to a revival of Marvel’s TV output this year, fans of Jessica Jones have wondered if the show could make a return too. By the sounds of things, she’s not going to need much persuading.

Ritter was asked if she would be down for a return during an interview on CBS News to promote her second novel, Retreat.

“I love Jessica Jones, and I think it’s so exciting that there seems to be such an appetite to see her again. I get asked about it almost every day, and you know, we remain cautiously optimistic,” she said.

She added: “Of course, if they asked me, I would be there, ready. I may or may not have the jacket I stole from set.”

What is Jessica Jones about?

The series followed the titular character, an ex-superhero turned private investigator who opens the agency Alias Investigations.

It aired for three seasons between 2015 and 2019. In 2022, Disney+ regained the licence for them so they moved over to the streamer from their original home of Netflix.

Jessica Jones also starred Mike Colter, Rachael Taylor, Wil Traval, Erin Moriarty, Eka Darville, Carrie-Ann Moss, David Tennant and more.

There was potentially more mileage for the story, but it was cancelled before season 3 aired as the creative partnership between Marvel and Netflix dried up. This, of course, was also in an era before Disney+, when the streaming market was much less competitive than it is now.

Marvel’s made some interesting moves lately in the way of TV. The company resurrected the cast of Netflix’s Daredevil for another outing in the form of the recent series Daredevil: Born Again. It is the first series in the franchise to air since 2018.

Another Marvel show that was airing at a similar time to Jessica Jones was The Punisher. Last month, the news broke that Marvel’s vigilante would be getting his own one-shot special on Disney+. He fronted his own spin-off series on Netflix between 2017 and 2019.
