- Singer Katy Perry went into space on 14 April
- Fans think singer Kesha threw shade at Perry
- The singers have not been friendly for a while

Uh-oh, is there another pop girlie beef on the horizon? So, people think singer Kesha, 38, is shading Katy Perry, 40, and her recent trip into space. Perry hopped aboard Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket called the New Shepard on 14 April for a brief trip to outer space. Accompanying Perry was Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sánchez, CBS co-presenter Gayle King, and other ladies.
Many people found the brief space trip wasteful and were unimpressed with Blue Origin for wasting fuel on such a short trip. However, fuel for the rocket is made from liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. This makes it considerably more environmentally friendly than other means of transportation.
But let’s get into the tea. Did the We R Who We R singer shade Perry, or are fans making it up? Let’s break it down.
Did she shade Katy Perry – yes or no?

To assess whether Kesha ‘shaded’ Perry, we should look at why fans think so. After Perry landed in Texas, reactions to her trip flooded social media. Fast food chain Wendy’s chimed in.
Notably, the fast food chain responded to Perry’s landing back on Earth in a post that said, “Can we send her back?”

The post garnered over 25,000 likes. Now, how does Kesha come into that?
Last night, the 38-year-old posted a photo of her smiling and drinking from a Wendy’s cup on her X account after the Wendy’s viral moment.

Instantly, fans thought the post was shading Perry, since it seems like the TikTok singer was endorsing the brand by taking that picture. Therefore, fans thought she was making fun of Perry.
Do Perry and Kesha have tension?
In short, yes. In 2014, the singer filed a lawsuit against music producer Dr Luke, which alleges sexual and emotional abuse. Nine years later, in 2023, Luke and Kesha settled.
For Perry’s recent album 124, she reunited with Luke and collaborated with him, over ten years after working on her 2013 album Prism.
During the ongoing lawsuit, it was alleged that the singer had sent texts to Lady Gaga (real name Stefani Germanotta) alleging Luke had also assaulted Perry while she worked with him. However, Perry herself has never confirmed this.
Upon hearing that the Roar singer and the former disgraced producer were collaborating again, the singer posted “lol” on X.
Many Katy Cats were horrified by the reunion, but Perry defended her decision and said her music and lyrics do not reflect the producer’s views.
How did fans react to the Kesha ‘shade’ post?
Fans rallied behind Kesha’s supposedly shady post. However, Katy Cats specifically were not happy.
To start off, kicking off the adverse reactions was one fan of Perry who responded with a comparison of the album and discography streams of the artists.

In response, another fan savagely condemned the singer for her post, commenting, ‘And this is exactly why nobody believes you—nothing happened to you. Keep crying in court.”
For context, the lawsuit that was filed was dismissed in April 2016.

Well, you have to be invited, but couldn’t any pop star have gone into space if they were?
Fans were loving the shade
On the other hand, fans of the singer loved the internet moment. Another account said in a comment, “Ooo I love me a shady Kesha!”

Rather than being shady, one fan thought the singer was trolling.

Interestingly, one fan suggested that the singer should have a Wendy’s burger called the Keshanator, ‘because she ate.'”

Despite the reactions from fans, neither singer has responded to the alleged shade.
