- Gracie Abrams has spoken about her rise to fame
- The singer says she went ‘under the radar’ compared to fellow artists, Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan
- But Abrams had nothing but praise for the two hitmakers

Gracie Abrams has admitted that thanks to Sabrina Carpenter, she has been able to “slip under the radar [in comparison]”.
Carpenter, 25, has had a bumper 12 months. Her album, Short n’ Sweet rocketed to number one as fans went wild for her new songs – including her number one hits, Please Please Please and Taste.
Also referencing Chappell Roan, Abrams, also 25, said in a new interview with Billboard, “When I think about both of their rises, it’s like… boom.
“I feel like I’ve almost slipped under the radar a little bit [in comparison].”
But Abrams was far from bitter.
“In pop culture, the impact that both Sabrina and Chappell have had on the industry has been so exciting to watch,” she went on. “Forget being an artist and somebody that puts music out as well.
“I think as a young person, there’s something so liberating about both their catalogs of music and the way that they’re choosing to run their businesses.
Abrams, who is dating Gladiator II star Paul Mescal, added, “It’s so obviously them through and through. I find that to be deeply inspiring. I’m a mega fan of both of theirs, and, yeah, just constantly kind of screaming my head off for them.”
Gracie Abrams names Lady Gaga as one of her heroes

When it came to praising female artists, though, Abrams didn’t stop there.
The I Love You, I’m Sorry hitmaker also admitted that New Zealand-born singer Lorde also keeps her grounded.
“She’s like 800 years old inside,” Abrams laughed. “Whenever we’re together, I feel my nervous system regulate differently.”
Abrams also had high praise for Doechii – whose music she says she’s currently “quite addicted to”, and Lady Gaga.
“When I think about songwriter greats, she has been top of mind recently,” Abrams said.
Sabrina Carpenter’s song could be kicked out of charts

Abrams isn’t wrong – Carpenter has had a wild ride over the last year, ever since she released her hit track, Espresso.
But after staying within the Billboard Hot 100 for 52 weeks, the song is now in danger of being kicked out of the charts!
A guideline from Billboard dictates that after a song spends 52 weeks on the ranking, it can only remain if it lands at No. 25 or higher.
Should it dip below that position at any point, it’s automatically removed, and returning becomes incredibly difficult.
And while Espresso peaked at number three, as previously mentioned, its popularity means it is still within the top 20 – so is in perilous danger of being booted out!
