- The fifth season of Emily In Paris is missing a key character
- We now know when production will start
- In addition, the rest of the cast has been confirmed

There’s one significant character who won’t return for the fifth season of Emily In Paris.
The surprise is that it isn’t any of Emily’s (Lily Collins) previous love interests. Although there was some uncertainty over the future of Lucas Bravo’s character Gabriel – Emily’s original romantic prospect – it turns out he is returning after all.
Instead, it is Camille (Camille Razat) who won’t appear. She had featured in all four of the previous seasons, a onetime friend of Emily’s who was also interested in Gabriel. This is perhaps not much of a surprise as near the end of season four, she packed up and left after attempting a relationship with Gabriel under the false pretenses of a fake pregnancy.
So who is coming back for season five?

Alongside Collins, we will see Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie Grateau), Ashley Park (Mindy Chen), Bravo (Gabriel), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gouery (Luc) and William Abadie (Antoine Lambert).

In addition, Lucien Laviscount, who plays Emily’s former boyfriend Alfie, returns to a series regular next season. Eugenio Franceschini, who plays Marcello, is also back after making his debut in season four. He potentially could be promoted to a season regular after appearing to begin a romantic arc with Emily.
The fate of fellow new addition Thalia Besson, who plays Genevieve, remains unknown.
When does production start?

Rather soon. Production begins in Rome in May before moving to Paris later in the summer. This is in keeping with Emily’s work asking her to relocate to Italy.
“She didn’t change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome. She is working in Rome sometimes. Sylvie’s company has an office in Rome. Emily’s getting that on its feet,” Star told Deadline in September. “I don’t necessarily think that it means a permanent — in my mind, it’s definitely not a permanent — move to Rome. We’re not leaving Paris.”
However, it will likely have a quick turnaround. Netflix has maintained that season five will drop this year, though most likely in 2025’s final couple of months.
What might happen?

The plot for season 5 of Emily in Paris isn’t known yet but showrunner Star has hinted at it with one phrase: “adventures in Rome and Paris”.

This could mean part of season 5 will focus on Emily working in Paris and getting closer to her new beau Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini).
However, since Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) ended last season on a mission to get Emily back, season 5 could explore their relationship now Emily is with someone else (yet again).
Alternatively, Emily might (please Star) reject Gabriel and move on with living a life in Rome. Or, if the showrunner repeats the same mishap he did in his previous hit show Sex and the City, Emily will go back to Paris to be with Gabriel but we will pretend it’s for her job.
