A child made a huge oopsie while playing on his mom’s phone and ordered 70,000 lollipops. Over the weekend, a Kentucky-based mom said her son was innocently playing on her phone and placed an order for the staggering amount of lollipops on Amazon.

The lollipops in question were Dum Dums. Unfortunately, Holly LaFavers did not cancel the order in time, as she had a shocking delivery of 30 cases of the lollipops turn up at her door. Talk about satisfying a sugar craving. 70,000 lollipops would have you set for Halloween for life.

What happened with the 70,000 lollipops?

LaFlavers found the 70,000 lollipops on her doorstep, totalling a cost of almost $4,200!

LaFavers, from Lexington, said she tried to stop the order, but it was too late. The huge amount of suckers had already been shipped and were out for delivery.

“I just panicked, and when I saw what the number was, I just about fainted,” LaFavers told WKYT.

To store away the 30 cases of the 70,000 lollipops, she had to store some in her garage. Her son, Liam, who is 8, made the purchase. Liam has developmental delays and was born with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, according to the news report.

Primarily, the condition affects his decision-making, which could explain the huge Dum Dums order.

“He told me he wanted to have a carnival, and he told me he was ordering the Dum Dums as prizes for his carnival,” LaFavers said.

On her son, she said he was being “nice and kind” to his friends by making the order.

Not kind to her bank account. Adorable, but expensive.

Scandalously, eight of LaFaver’s cases of Dum Dums were missing. As a result, she had to take a trip to the post office to resolve the error. Tragically, those eight cases were marked as errors and returned to sender.

She had trouble contacting Amazon, but the news crew helped her.

However, some good came from Liam’s lollipop order – her favorite flavor, Blue Raspberry.

When asked if she wanted to open the box of Blue Raspberry lollies, La Favers responded, “No! I know how expensive that box is. I’m not tempted to crack it open”.

Probably a wise decision.

La Favers was getting her money back

Later, after the news report, the team found out why the Lexington mom could not return the Dum Dums. A note on Amazon said the product was non-refundable for health and safety as it is labelled as an ingestible product.

Thankfully, the story has a happy ending. After the story aired, LaFavers told the news channel she was getting her money back. To make sure nothing like that could happen again, she said she would change the settings on her phone.

Luckily, the Dum Dums are there to stay.
