2025 is almost half way through and we’ve still not seen or heard a peep from Stranger Things season 5.

The long awaited fifth and final season of The Duffer Brothers’ hit show is set to debut on Netflix. A concrete release date hasn’t been revealed, but many believe it’ll arrive later in 2025 and could be split into two.

This strategy isn’t unusual. Netflix has used it on a few of its hit shows, like Emily in Paris and The Crown. Nothing has been confirmed for sure – but some outlets have suggested the first part could land just before Christmas. Meanhile, the second chuck of episodes could stretch into 2026.

Either way, that means another few months of waiting – and fans haven’t even seen an official trailer yet. For many, it’s started to get a bit frustrating and some have made their way to Reddit to vent their feelings.

Some are even saying that this extended delay is “hurting” the fanbase, while others are admitting that it’s making them care less about the future of the show.

Over on the r/StrangerThings Sub-Reddit page, one user posted about their frustrations and it spurred others onto share their thoughts.

“I have to be honest: the wait at this point has gotten to be so long that I, a huge fan of the show, am not even thinking of new headcanons nor do I care much about the universe,” said a user posting under the handle Bunny_Carrots_87.

Headcanons refer to the fictional backstories and sub-plots that die-hard fans sometimes imagine for their favourite movie and TV show characters.

The post encouraged others to share their thoughts.

“I will probably care more when it starts, but right now I could not care less,” said one of the replies. “It’s been so long since season 4, that I’ve lost interest, sadly. All momentum has been lost. It’s ridiculous that it’s been this long, and absolutely unnecessary.”

“I am not that bothered at all”

Others said they felt the same, with the extensive wait time without any promotional material impacting fans’ ability to care about the show or its future.

Many suggested that the long wait means people will have forgotten what happened in Stranger Things season 4. For reference, the last season of the show debuted on 27 May 2022.

“it’s reassuring other people are feeling like this. Rn I am not that bothered at all. I’m guessing when it starts I will hopefully get immersed again. But yh the gaps between a lot of modern shows sucks and momentum out of them and makes the story harder to follow,” said another troubled fan.

“I would rewatch the show to get in the head space for it but it’s such a long show I don’t have time tbh.”

It’s “really hurting the fanbase” said one fan

Another added that “The long wait is really hurting the fanbase.

“Alot of people barely remember what happened the last season unless they’re super obsessed fans.”

While no news regarding Stranger Things season 5’s arrival has landed just yet, hopefully we’ll get something concrete soon enough that helps these frustrated fans out.
