- Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow part of Jame Gunn’s DCU reboot
- Film will hit theaters in June 2026
- Milly Alcock on board to play Supergirl

James Gunn’s revamped DCU is starting to fill out its schedule, with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow the latest film to have its release date confirmed.
Warner Bros confirmed that the Supergirl film will hit theaters on June 26, 2026.
Confirmed details
It has also been confirmed that Milly Alcock – best known for her work on House of the Dragon – will play the titular superhero, with Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya) directing and Ana Nogueira penning the script.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is the second film in the rebooted DCU to have its release date confirmed. The other is Superman, which will arrive on July 11, 2025.
There are other films being developed for the DCU, including The Brave and the Bold – which features Batman – as well as The Authority and Swamp Thing.
Gunn has teased that the DCU version of the Supergirl character will be “much more hardcore” than previous screen iterations have been.
Plot details for the Supergirl film have yet to be formally announced, but the name is the same as a recent limited series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, where Kara Zor-El is sought out by an alien girl to help her on a mission to gain revenge on the people who destroyed her world. Several sources have claimed that the film will be based on the series.
Previous screen outing
It has been 40 years since the last Supergirl outing on film. Then, Helen Slater played Supergirl, up against Faye Dunaway’s villain. The film was a spin-off from the Superman trilogy starring Christopher Reeve, but didn’t achieve the critical or commercial success that had been hoped for. Additionally, fans can rejoice as the first shots of “Stranger Things” Season 5 have been released, teasing what’s to come in the beloved series. Furthermore, fans eagerly await the release of “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” after its confirmed release date announcement.
